Petite Review: Banana Republic & Forever 21 play checkers

Who would have thought that you could pair a Forever 21 skirt with a Banana Republic top and have it look put together? Here it is……

It’s hard to tell from the picture but the Banana Republic top is ribbed with a cute satin ruffle neckline- it makes the top a little more work friendly when you dress it up with a skirt.
The Banana Republic top $49 got on sale for $15.99- how can you beat that price? I had to get a PXS because there was none left in PXXS but this fits just fine. I would prefer a PXXS but it runs very small so I’m good with it!
Shoes: Colin Stuart peep toe pumps- size 5
Necklace: White chunky pearls
I honestly didn’t think I could pair something from Banana Republic with a Forever 21 skirt but this actually works! I love how the bright white pearls stand out with the black top. They didn’t have PXXS in the store when I was there but they still have them here in PXXS and PXS (comes in 3 different colors).
I love this skirt for the fit. Forever 21 skirts in XS always fit nicely. The waist is tiny which is always a good thing for petites!!! This one is belted (the belt is a faux patent belt) but nevertheless- the belt is petite friendly too! There isn’t any “additional” belt leftover once you find the right length (which is my pet-peeve). There are no holes or anything on the belt- it just stays in place once you fit it to your waist.
I thought this would look “cheap” but I think these 2 pieces work nicely together!
Here are some other cute Banana Republic ruffle tops that are petite friendly (and ON SALE):

1. Banana Ruffle Top $60 on sale for $29.90 Here in Silver Gray (comes in PXXS and PXS)
2. Banana Silk Ruffle Blouse $69.50  on sale for $39.50 Here in White  and Here in Black (comes in PXXS and PXS)

Here are some darling Forever 21 skirts:

1. F21 Tea party skirt– $27.80 (so feminine and cute)
2. F21 Seersucker Gingham skirt – only $15.80 (very similar to the one I’m wearing)

I am contemplating getting all the colors of the ribbed Banana Republic top I am wearing in this post. Would that be wrong? It comes in Lilac Orchid, and Unsaturated Blue but it’s $24.99 online but they have PXXS- do I dare?? I’m pretty tempted only because its so versatile- you can dress it up or down!
