Lookbook: Stripes and Bows

Happy Friday everyone! Here is the striped H & M bow skirt from my haul post on Monday that seemed to be quite popular! I wasn’t sure how to wear this because it’s not a skirt I can wear to work so I did two looks. Here is with this top……

Top: H & M lace tank- size XS (similar HERE)
Skirt: H & M bow skirt- size 2 (similar HERE )
Shoes: Aldo Taupe Patent Pumps- size 5 (similar HERE)
Necklace: Pearls with diamond accents
The navy lace tank I just got but forgot to include in my post on Monday- oopsie! I also got a belted black skirt from H & M that I failed to take a pictures of but it will more than likely appear in the future! I have tried other parts of my backyard but the way the sunsets, it’s too dark so sorry for the same backdrop:(

What I love about this skirt is that it’s very different! And even though it’s made out of polyester (*ish*), it feels and looks like silk. The bow detail is so darling! It’s hard to see the color but the skirt is navy blue- not black.
With a skirt like this, I had to make sure the top was really fitted and able to tuck in nicely so I chose this form fitting tank. And because it’s more of a casual, fun skirt, I thought I’d add some pearls to make it more sophisticated.
Here’s with the pink tee I got….couldnt decide if I liked a lighter top or the navy…I’m thinking navy??
The top is actually a very pale pink- not white. I wanted to try pink with this skirt just for fun.
Here’s my attempt at showing a close up of the front and back of the skirt (not such a great job of the back but there’s my pool..LOL)
Here is how to replicate this look:
(LOVE this! And it’s so similar to the H & M one)
Hope everyone has a great weekend! And please let me know which top you like better w/my bow skirt 🙂

  1. Wow what a CUTE outfit! You really got to tell me what you do as far as your workout routine! I am in love with your legs–seriously!!! You've got legs for days! 🙂

  2. Ahaaa I just figured out where I've seen that skirt before. Janice from couture & crayons (http://coutureandcrayons.blogspot.com/2010/06/splurge-vs-steal-anthro-aniseed-skirt.html)did a lookbook of the modcloth version, which probably originated from the Anthropologie version. It's a lot poofy-er than it looked on the hanger but I still think it's cute.

I vote with the blue tank! The heels look is good for going out but I would probably wear it with lower shoes for casual afternoons b/c its so mini.

  3. That's such a interesting skirt… I had no idea it fits like that from the hanger pic earlier. And those shoes look gorgeous on you! 🙂

  4. I absolutely love your skirt! I can't stop staring at it : ) I love how the lines on the bow slightly contrast the lines of the skirt aaaa 😀 I love it with the blue tank! You have such a gorgeous house (from what I can tell of the backyard)

  5. cute skirt and i definitely like it with the blue tank! i need some taupe leather pumps like the ones you're wearing!! every time i try on a pair i like, they don't have my size. so frustrating!

  6. I love the almost nautical theme you have going on in the first picture. The pale pink looks amazing, too! This outfit compliments your curves. Very pretty!

Thank you so much for your nice comment on my hater post, by the way. I really appreciate it! I didn't see the shout-out you mentioned, but I thank you nonetheless! 🙂

  7. I really like how that skirt flares out like that. It really shows off your waist well. gosh I cant stop looking (just scrolled up again to look LOL) at how fab that cut is! 😀

  8. What an adorable skirt! It is such a girly girl skirt. I like it with your navy top. You have gorgeous backyard and pool.

  9. I love both tops, but I'm leaning more towards the navy because I don't like to mix my colors (I know, I'm so boring like that 😉

P.S. Super cuuuuuuuute skirt! I wonder if my local H&M still has it in stock!

  10. You look soooo good! :)) <3
I totally love the entire outfit. Honestly, I really like both shirts with the skirt! 😀 I feel like the pink shirt seems somewhat more on the formal side, which is tooootally okay too 🙂

did you get the skirt recently? i'm in love with it!

  11. Thanks ladies for all your lovely comments! I really appreciate them!!!

Sounds like the navy top is the winner! YAY! And yes it's my backyard….and its too bad I can't take pictures from different angles because there are so many pretty spots but the way the sun goes down when I get home, I have limited options 🙁

@ (the last question- sorry can't type out name) And Yes I did just get this skirt recently- just 1 week ago! 🙂

  13. So so so so adorable! I love this "fun & playful" look on you (because I'm used to seeing you in elegant office attire) I like both versions, but my favorite is the first outfit with the blue tank. The blue really enhances the stripes on the skirt 😀
