Petite Review: LOFT Items

I finally got my LOFT items in the mail the other day and was so excited to rip open my box! Here are my reviews on everything.  Up first is the Mini Spots Ruffle Dress:
On me
On Model
I had my eye on this dress and then saw it on PetiteLittleGirl when she tried it on in the dressing room (see here) and thought- it may fit nicely since I think I am wider than her.

HERE IS MY REVIEW:

CUT/SIZING: I have a XXSP on and it fits but its roomy. The thing I disliked the most was how LOW cut and BIG the bust area was. You would most definitely need to wear a cami because even with me not bending over- you could literally see straight down the dress! The length of the dress was perfect- right above the knee on me is where I like my skirts and dresses to hit. I would love it if it were more fitted- especially near the bottom.

FABRIC: The ruffles and the edges were super pretty. The overall material was nice but just didn’t do it for me.

QUALITY: The quality was great- most LOFT items are.
PRACTICALITY: I really wanted to love this dress and wanted it to fit perfectly but how many times will I really wear it? I love the colors and the ruffles but it’s just not something I see myself wearing more than once. And at $53 after discounts, that’s a bit too much for a “fun” dress I won’t be able to get much use out of.
VERDICT: Sadly- returning:(

Here is the brown skinny braided leather belt I was very anxious to get!!! I couldn’t get a very good picture of it and it was so HOT outside, I didn’t want to keep going in and out to change. So I just wrapped it on the dress I had on just to show the fit:
Sorry for this terrible example of the belt but couldn’t think of any other way to show it for this review.
SIZING: I was so nervous about whether the XS would fit since I have never tried on a LOFT belt before so had no idea on the sizing. Much to my surprise- it fits decent!!! It’s not perfect and could be several inches shorter but I  wrapped it around the back and hid it. For $11.99 for a genuine leather belt, I can make it work!

QUALITY: Excellent! The leather is so nice and of high quality. I am very particular about belts and this is exactly what I was looking for. I was panicked when I wasn’t able to order online and had to call and place the order.

VERDICT: Definitely keeping! Wish there was a black version of this belt!

Tank tucked in black H & M skirt- size 2

Back of tank with ribbon detail        Here’s to show the length of tank
Chain Link Rosette Tank in XXSP
FIT: This fit perfectly! The armholes are small and there is no loose material- which is my biggest pet peeve! The cut is very small so for someone smaller than me, it will still fit nicely. The length is a bit too long for my taste but it’s fitted enough to tuck in.

PRACTICALITY: It’s a white tank with chains, a rose and black ribbon so if you spill on this- you are screwed! So not sure how practical it would be after one wear…..This would be definitely worn with jeans for a casual look but for time sake, I just threw on the black skirt.

MATERIAL: A bit sheer but w/the right bra, you should be okay. I love the edges of the tank, it makes it a bit dressier than your ordinary tank. The chain and rosette detail adds a bit of flair and is very out of my box.
VERDICT: Not 100% sure…keep or return? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Tank tucked in
Here’s to show the extreme length of it (clearly not a petite length). I would never wear it un-tucked but for this review- needed to show how long it was:)
Here’s the taupe color
Novelty Trim Tank in XXS (not Petite)
This was last minute online purchase and I was curious to see if this NON-PETITE size in XXS would fit. I got in pink and taupe just in case.
SIZING: Surprisingly it runs very narrow and tiny but the length is way too long and almost overwhelming- even when I tried to tuck it in. Someone super narrow and taller would love this.
QUALITY: Very good quality and would look super cute underneath blazers for work or worn alone on a hot day with a pencil skirt. I love the satin detail. Reminds me of my Banana Republic Luxe Tank. I think this tank is meant to be worn casual but I love to wear underneath cardigans or work blazers.
VERDICT: I may keep the pink and return the taupe one. I am shocked they didn’t carry this in a petite size. It would probably sell out super fast.
So my favorite items are the belt and possible the 2 tanks! Still torn about the white rosette chain tank…keep or return? The novelty tank– keep?

  1. I think my favorite would probably be the belt! I wanted to get it but the site wouldn't let me select size (I think you had the same problem?) The dress is huge and the tanks look so long! Even tucked in I think there would be too much excess fabric bulking up the tummy area 🙁

  2. I love those tanks when they tucked in. Otherwise, I wouldn't wear them untucked. I had the same thoughts when I try the ruffle dress on. A little pricey for a fun dress 🙂

  3. OH and actually, long tanks like that I actually love for wearing over leggings! I'm the opposite of you ~ I really dislike short tops that don't hit at least at the crotch! When they're short I always tug down >_<

  4. @PetiteXXS- Yep- couldn't order online so I had to call and place my order. It was worth it because the belt is fantastic!! You should get one!!

@PetiteLittleGirl- I totally agree! Dress is going back!

@Roxy- My thoughts exactly, hard to wash and easy to get dirty….I think it's going back:(

@sophia- Hehehee, I think you can get away with longer tanks cuz you are longer and leaner 🙂

  5. the dress is cute! haha yeah I hate it when the chest area is too low, not all of us (like me!!) have big boobs to show off… and I wish there was a h&m in town, so I can pick up that outfit too haha! You look so great in these pics

  6. i find that dress to be really cute. i love the background of your photos, btw! 🙂

  7. The tanks look great! The dress would be perfect if it fit a little better. That's a bummer :/

    You look beautiful 🙂

  8. the first white tank with the necklace & the gray tank — i vote to keep! i love the design and the color on you.

i think shirts look long on your because you have short torso? is that the case for most shirts you buy/try?

  9. I love the rosette tank on you. That's kind of silly that they don't have a way to remove the chains so you can wash the tank.

Oh and I'd love to be on your blogroll! Adding you to mine right now!

  10. @Ping- I think I do have short torso and yes I have that problem with most shirts which sucks! LOL

@Tiffany- YAY! Thanks for adding me too!!! 🙂
