High Waisted Denim + Comfortable Booties + Stripe Ruffle Top

I have too many stripes said no one EVER.  Is it possible to be addicted to all things stripes?  It’s almost as if I can’t control myself (lol).  I know most of you reading this post can relate.  Stripes all day everyday.  Yes it’s become a problem and I’m okay with that.  Today I’m talking about high waisted denim and how they can conceal problem areas plus sharing this very affordable top.

How cute is this stripe ruffle off the shoulder top?  I just love how simple and versatile it is.  It’s like a dressed up soft tee that shows off your shoulders.  You can wear this with jeans or a flare skirt for spring and summer.

Sizing runs VERY small.  I’m wearing XXS (equivalent to size 00) and it fits me nicely however I would recommend sizing up.  The length is short and will be cropped if you are taller than 5′.  If you’re similar in height to me, you can pair it with high waisted denim or high waisted skirt and your midriff won’t be peeking out.  Can you believe it’s only $25 with free shipping?  You can’t beat that!

Let’s talk about high waisted denim.  Had you asked me several years ago if I would ever wear high waisted denim, I would have probably scoffed.  The last few years…I can’t live without them!  They are amazing and I love how they pull everything in and they even give your behind a little lift. 🙂

First, white jeans are A MUST.  They are so versatile and I wear them all year round.  These Topshop petite Jamie high waisted ankle skinny jeans are my favorite pair of white jeans.  If you’re petite, these require no alterations and no cuffing!  Yes that’s right.  The inseam measures 24″ and perfect for petite gals.  This is great for wearing with ankle booties or flats – you don’t need to roll them up.  They are also available in a longer inseam for taller gals.

High waisted denim gives me life.  After having Milan, I haven’t worked out (so awful I know) and still have a belly pooch that won’t go away.  These really conceal your problem areas and the best part?  You don’t need to constantly pull them up throughout the day.  I never realized how annoying this was with some of my low and mid-rise jeans.  I don’t have much a rear end but these make me look like I do.  Say what?  Bonus! LOL

This is my third or fourth pair (lost track) of Topshop jeans and I love the fit.  Sizing runs small so if you’re ordering for the first time, I would suggest sizing up 1-2 sizes.  My usual size is 24×28 and they fit snug.

My entire outfit is from Nordstrom and let me tell you why.  I shop at Nordstrom for most of my clothes and shoes.  It’s true and there’s no denying it.  I have mad love for them.  I love that they offer free shipping and free returns which removes all the risk of “should I buy this or shouldn’t I?”.  Another perk I love about Nordstrom is their buy it online, pick it up in store.  There are times where I have no patience to wait for my items to arrive in the mail so whenever possible, I love utilizing this option.

I have my eye on so many items right now.  Here are some of my favorites:

The weather has been exceptionally cold in Newport Beach so I’m really looking forward to spring.  I wish it was this cold back in December.  Now my mind is in full spring mode.  You better believe each of these pieces will be on heavy rotation this coming season. 🙂

  1. Love idea of the high waisted pants! Also, how do you keep your whites…bright white???? Would love to know your tips!

  2. I have recently started reading your blog and am in love with your style. I found you after googling, “over the knee boots for petite women.” I followed up on your suggestion for the flat sole black Vince Camuto boots and love them. I have two quick questions. Are these white pants thick or thin? One review on Nordstrom said they were thin and wrinkled easy but they do not look thin in your photos. Also do you have a suggestion for an affordable pink or blush blazer? Preferably less than $125. Thank you!
