Review: Seersucker Maxi Dress, Scalloped Dress and Neutral Espadrille Sandals

Why is it so hard finding a decent maxi dress?  The struggle is REAL.  I was shocked when this one fit with NO alterations needed and the length is petite friendly.  Woo hoo!

Before we get into this dress, let me just tell you how much I adore these espadrille sandals!  They are my new favorite.  I love the lower heel and the color (dusty mink) is absolutely perfect.  Sizing runs true to size and I would highly recommend it.  If you need some spring sandals, make sure to check out my previous post HERE with all my picks!

I fell in love with this dress when I first saw it online but after trying it on and wearing it out, I love it even more!  It’s insanely comfortable and easy to wear.  No fussing, adjusting or anything!  Sizing runs small even though reviews say otherwise.  I’m wearing XS and it fits similar (possibly slightly smaller) to a 00P at other retailers like Ann Taylor or Loft.  The bust area has no stretch so I’d recommend sizing up if you have a larger chest.  The straps are adjustable which makes me SO HAPPY.  I cannot stand straps that constantly fall down throughout the day.  Love the fact that this dress is NOT low cut.

Two favorite things about this dress.  1. It’s nursing friendly and 2. It has pockets.  The dress is fully lined and not see through at all.  I do want to point out that after taking these photos, I noticed that there is a lot of fabric on the bottom portion of the dress.  Nothing too crazy where it would look odd but I wanted to mention that.

Measurements: 13″ waist, 15.5″ armpit to armpit, 47″ total length (may vary depending on how short your straps are)

I think XXS would have fit me slightly better since the waist is loose on me however this gives me extra breathing room to eat.  As a reference, I’m just under 5′ tall and 94 lbs.

This dress comes in two different prints – seersucker and gingham.  Both are cute but I prefer the seersucker one since I have way too much gingham going on in my closet.  Love it to pieces and would recommend!  FYI – if your size is currently sold out, make sure to select the size you want and click I NEED IT.  ModCloth usually will restock popular items based on demand.pink scalloped sheath dress gingham bow heels easter outfit

On another note, wanted to quickly review and give you measurements on this scalloped fit and flare dress in case you want it in time for Easter.  It comes in four different colors (navy, black, red and pink) and currently on sale for under $50 (use code: SALE).  I have a similar navy one from Maison Jules and it looks like they may have changed their sizing.  They used to carry XXS which was petite friendly but now I’m seeing numerical sizes.  Based on the fit of this dress, it runs much bigger than any of their other dresses in the past.  I really wish they would have kept their previous sizing.

Measurements of size 0: 13″ waist, 15″ armpit to armpit, 14″ shoulder to shoulder, 34.5″ total length

I quickly tried it on today but didn’t have enough time to assess the fit properly.  From what I could tell and based on the measurements, it was loose and probably needs to be taken in.  The length is NOT as short as it appears on the model.  It hits me at the knees – great for work and Church.  The measurements are almost spot on to a 00 petite at Loft.

Quality is nice however the dress is unlined.  The material is thick and will hold up well.  It’s identical to my navy one HERE.  Too bad this new version doesn’t fit like the old one. 🙁

  1. Love that dress! I was just trying to find a maxi dress yesterday (I am 5’2” and have finally lost most of the baby weight I had, so size 0, yay!) and after being hugely disappointed I just started looking at girls’ maxi dresses on Amazon. I do not have time to get something hemmed! So I really appreciate the recommendation, thank you!
