Review: ASOS and White House Black Market Petites

ASOS petite midi skirt with pockets
Skirt: ASOS midi skirt with pockets – size US 00 petite (buy here)
Measurements: waist 10 3/4″ laying flat, length 23.5″ (see review of the peach and red version HERE)
Left Top: Loft {old, similar here} Right Top: H&M (buy here), Blazer H&M – size 2 (buy here)
Left Shoes: J.Crew (similar) Right Shoes: Ann Taylor (buy here)

This is the exact same skirt as my peach one worn and reviewed here. It looked more “mint” online but in person, it’s a light pastel blue (so pretty). I don’t have any skirts in this color and I can’t seem to turn down a full skirt with pockets. Keeping and would recommend. FYI – the waist doesn’t provide much stretch so I’d recommend sizing up.
ASOS scuba skirt
Skirt: ASOS scuba skirt – size XXS/UK6 (buy here)
Measurements: Waist 11″ across, 16″ total length
Top: H&M (buy here)
Blazer: H&M – size 2 (buy here)
Shoes: Ann Taylor (buy here)

This reminds me of my other ASOS yellow neoprene skirt (see here and here). I bought it pre-owned on eBay and the waist has always been slightly too loose on me. The waist on this skirt runs small and fits me perfectly. It’s regular sizing but the XXS is tiny and comparable to H&M size 2. I wish it was a couple inches longer in length but other than that, it’s adorable. The material is made from as stretch scuba material and is thinner than neoprene. It drapes nicely and doesn’t seem to be wrinkle prone. Would highly recommend. Perfect for Spring/Summer. It’s also available in white/cream (buy here). **This was recently on sale for $45 but now is back up to full price.
ASOS high waisted chartreuse pencil skirt
Skirt: ASOS high waisted pencil skirt – size US 1 (buy here)
Measurements: waist 12″ across, length 23″
Top: H&M (buy here)

I’ve been looking for a thinner chartreuse pencil skirt for Spring/Summer and had high hopes for this one. I love the tapered fit and longer length but the material is a bit strange. It’s unlined, thin and seems to wrinkle easily. The price is decent buts still debating if I can live with the material.
WHBM Tweed Dress with Bow Belt
Dress: WHBM Bow Belt Sheath – size 00P (buy here)
Measurements: shoulder 11.5″, armpit 15″, waist 12″, hips 16″, length 34″

This is a very classic black/white sheath dress. The 00P fits me like a glove. It comes with a detachable bow belt but I think it looks better w/out it. The oversize bow on the belt makes my waist appear much bigger (who wants that?). It’s fully lined and a great addition to my work wardrobe. Would recommend.
WHBM Striped Blazer and Polka Dot Skirt
Blazer: WHBM – size 00P (buy here)
Measurements: shoulder 13″, armpit 15″, sleeve 17″, length 19″
Skirt: WHBM – size 00P (buy here)
Measurements: waist 12″, length 22″

Here is the petite version of this striped blazer (see previous fitting room review here). It runs very small so I’d recommend sizing up. If you are similar in size to me, the 00P fits me nicely. This polka dot pencil skirt is adorable and runs true to size. The only downside is that the dots are made of tiny white sequins and I’m afraid that some will fall off over time. Other than that, it’s super cute and would recommend both pieces! I also got the petite version of this chanel-esque jacket and it fits much better than the regular (see here).

  4. I love your new yellow skirt and your WHBM black and white dress! I’m surprised the petites fits you so well and I agree the bow belt doesn’t really work with the classic lines of the dress. Will you be removing the belt loops?

      • You should get the waist taken in for the other skirt then if you want to keep both. Your tailor deserves another visit. hehe
