Staying on top of trends can be fun and exciting (at the moment) but having more classic pieces that you can mix and match is much better in the long run. Plus your wallet will thank you later! I used to hoard clothes but now I’d rather invest in a few classic items rather than buying items on sale or on impulse. Those usually end up in the donation pile anyway so why not save myself the hassle. Anyone else guilty of this? 🙂

I’ve been a long time fan of Banana Republic. I love the quality of their clothes and the petite sizes have always fit me really well without any alterations. I’m loving so many items from the BR Classics – a collection of wardrobe staples and timeless pieces. This fit and flare dress and classic stripe shirt is definitely a must have!

This dress has all the qualities that make a dress fabulous. The perfect length, high quality material and pockets…what more could you ask for? Plus it has a hidden zipper in the back (yay!). The v-neck isn’t too deep and has plenty of coverage which makes it work appropriate. Sizing runs true to size however if you have a larger bust, I’d recommend sizing up. The material is a heavier fabric (holds it’s shape all day) and doesn’t wrinkle (yippee!). The flare is perfect, accentuates your waist and flatters all body types. It comes in three different colors and is available in regular, tall and petite sizes. If the antarctic blue (more of mint color) isn’t for you, then I’d suggest the secret plum or black.

I love when an item you invest in is versatile. You get more bang for your buck! You can choose to wear this dress alone, with a blazer or layer it with a button up shirt underneath for a more professional look. It can be worn to work, casually on the weekends with flats, out to brunch or even to a Spring/Summer wedding. How great is it when you can take an outfit from desk to dinner without having to make a pit-stop home to change!

I can’t get enough of this Dillon stripe shirt! It’s definitely a wardrobe staple and very comfortable. The material is 100% cotton and very soft. I love how the shirt skims your shape and has a relaxed (but put-together) silhouette. I’ve already worn it with jeans and lace up flats for a more casual look. Plus it’s also nursing friendly which is a major bonus for me these days! 🙂
