A little background about this product in case you haven’t heard about it.  I do a lot of research before using any products on my face.  Call it skepticism or analytical or possibly both (lol). Here’s what I found out.  This story behind the brand and how it got started dates back to the 1970’s and 1980’s and the history is basically what sold me on this product.  A team of SK-II scientists set out to find the key to the fountain of youth.

SK-II scientists decided to go to sake brewery to find out.  They noticed that the workers all had beautiful, soft and youthful hands despite their wrinkly faces.  The scientists were convinced that the secret was the yeast that the brewers hands were in contact with during the sake fermentation process.  This was the inspiration and birth of Pitera™ which is SK-II’s miracle ingredient.

Derived from sake yeast, Pitera™ has remained essentially unchanged until this day.  Is this crazy or what? I was in so in awe of this story and had to learn more. The more I read about it, the more I was convinced and needed to try it for myself.

To be honest, I never really cared too much about my skin when I was younger. I had my normal breakouts but overall my skin was decent. It wasn’t until I had insomnia for two straight years that I really noticed how lack of sleep affected me. I started to get dark circles and that’s when the fine lines and wrinkles started to appear. How to apply SK-II Facial Treatment Essence

After washing your face, pat it dry and then pour a few drops into a cotton pad. Gently pat onto your skin. Do NOT rub it in.  I use this every morning and night.

Pros: It refined my pores and made my skin smoother.  It improves un-even skin tone and controls the development of dark spots.  I noticed my skin felt more hydrated and seemed firmer after the first month. I also love that the product comes in a glass container and not plastic.

Cons:  The cost is a most definitely an investment however it’s your face!  You get what you pay for and if you’re putting it on your face, then in my opinion, it’s worth it.

Overall, this SK-II Facial Treatment Essence lives up to all the hype. It’s the best skin care product I’ve tried in a long time. My skin now feels more hydrated, smooth and the un-evenness has improved.
