Getting Personal: Bora Bora Vacation Part 2 & Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort

As promised, this is part 2 of my Bora Bora vacation. I am super excited to share with you where we stayed and show you our over water deluxe villa. There were so many great photos so I could only choose a few otherwise it would be the longest post ever! I had to include a slide show of the exact villa/bungalow we stayed at because the pictures just doesn’t do it justice.

The water was so warm and perfect to swim in…

We stayed at the Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort and Spa and opted to pay more and stay in the Deluxe Over water Villa. And boy was it worth every penny! Just to give you an idea of the whole island:

The little red dot is where we stayed. The mini island that it was located on was a result of a volcano- how cool is that?  I chose this hotel based mainly on the location. I was looking for something that was very remote and private- away from the busy and touristy areas. Out of all the islands, I fell in love with Bora Bora because it’s supposed to be the most beautiful and exclusive. Here is what an aerial shot looks like:

Is this what heaven looks like?
Here is the Bora Bora Airport- very different from the craziness of most airports.
Upon arrival, your jaw just drops at the scenery- it’s just something I cannot explain!
The hotel greets you with an envelope and a beautiful fresh Lei.
Here I am just mesmerized by all the diff blue shades in the water:
Here is what you get when you first arrive at the Hilton Bora Bora Nui:
The only thing I was disappointed in was the typical greeting is a Polynesian man singing with a ukulele abut our arrival didn’t receive that. I was pretty bummed!
This is one of my favorite pictures. This is overlooking the pool and ocean at sunset..it doesn’t even look real!
Here’s another one after sunset….omg- just beautiful!
Here is the best view from the top of the spa:
The resort was so big that you can take a porter (golf cart) anywhere you wanted to! We walked a lot of the time because we like to be active but there were some days when it was just  nice to call for a Porter and they come pick you up and take you where you want to go!
This was one night when we were watching the sunset from our balcony off of our Villa- and this sailboat drifted by at the perfect timing, I almost fell over looking for my camera. I still can’t believe this was our view everyday.  It’s unbelievably surreal. We snorkeled, kayaked, and went on a catamaran.
Only one BAD thing happened to me while in Bora Bora, the very first full day:( We were so excited to snorkel- my first time and I had a snorkel accident/injury….here is the result- sorry if this grosses anyone out:
Yes this is my left leg!!! OH MY GOSH- my goggles didn’t fit properly so when we were in the shallow end, water went in my mask and I panicked and kicked the coral super hard! I was bleeding pretty bad but kept on snorkeling not realizing that sharks can smell blood from super far away. So I kept snorkeling and then when I got out, I was in so much pain- I could hardly walk! We didn’t think anything of it except for how nasty it looked but by the 4th day, I couldn’t take the pain anymore and went to see Hotel reception area where I met this girl who works in a Hospital and the same thing happened to her foot and she suggested rubbing lemon so that it takes out any coral that maybe inside my leg. Well I was desperate and believed her so I had her do it and it was the MOST painful experience ever! Imagine lemon being rubbed hard on an OPEN gash like this- it was just insane! But the day after, my leg felt better, still a little pain but nothing compared to before she did the lemon trick. So now it’s healing somewhat but will take a couple of months to fully heal. So I am praying I won’t have a a large scar on my legs:(  Not such good timing to show you pics of the food we ate but I am running out of room on this post..LOL

Here are some of the desserts and entrees we had…five star dining at its best! We had fine dining, 3 course meals…I didn’t have to cook for 12 days- it was the best! 🙂  The food, the scenery, the flowers- everything was amazing! I love flowers and just couldn’t get over how many different beautiful flowers I saw. Here are just some I took with my cheapie Canon digital camera:

The best part about this hotel and island is that it’s ULTRA private. Hubby and I do not like touristy areas where there is a lot of chaos. It was so quiet, that we could fall asleep on our deck within seconds- that’s when you know it’s a true vacation! The beaches were so deserted, it was as if we were the only people. I didn’t see more than 10 people at a given time on the beaches and we spent a lot of time tanning and swimming in our Villa since it was IN THE OCEAN and had great sun exposure.
Here is hubby and I watching the gorgeous sunset….I so miss that place!!!
It was the most spectacular place I have ever been to- it even beats Italy- and we stayed there for 3 weeks for our honeymoon last year. And I got the darkest tan I have ever gotten and that was with SPF45! That alone was worth the trip:)  Pictures and video can’t even come close to the real thing. I hope everyone gets to experience Bora Bora.  Next trip we go on, I am going to invest in a really nice camera because even though my Canon did a great job, I would have loved a professional one that could really capture great photos- but I am not complaining! My camera did a great job!

We had the best time and I cannot wait to go back! I miss it already! Here is my favorite part: (quick video)

Feeding the fish right off of our lower deck…it was truly an amazing experience and I will never forget it! I am sure I am forgetting a ton of stuff but this post was longer than I wanted 🙂 Hope you enjoyed it!

Have a great weekend:) I don’t get to go shopping this weekend so here is what I found online:
