Petite Fashion Challenge #6: Dress up your basics

This month’s Petite Fashion Challenge is being hosted by Jess from Stylepint. This challenge is:
““Dress Up Your Basics”
Jeans and a tee is a classic outfit starter. Depending on what you layer over this basic pairing, you can change style and feel of the entire look. This is your chance to show your personality and your creativity.
I have to admit, I was quite panicked when I saw the “tee” part because I am NOT a
“tee” type of girl. But luckily I found a simple gray H & M tee that I could at least start with. And of course, my all time fav pair of jeans, the GAP legging jeans! I know, I am boring but oh well:D
Here’s what the outfit looks like after some accessories and layering:

Jacket: Theory Gratian Tweed Blazer- size 0 (buy here in winter white)
Tee: H & M Divided – size 2 (similar here)
Necklace: Nordstrom Long Strand Pink pearls- (similar here)
Pin: Vintage flower pearl brooch (cheap one here)
Earrings: Chanel
Purse: Chanel medium double flap purse

I know, not the most creative but it was the best I could do and that I felt comfortable in. I didn’t have time to really think about this challenge due to work and traveling so I hope I did okay:) I attempted to do a couple of other looks but it was so terrible, I had to stick to what I knew was more “me”. And I had to layer the tee with a blazer otherwise it just wouldn’t look right on me.
Here’s what it looks like before any layering or accessories:

Looks totally weird right? I don’t like t-shirts worn alone on me. It just looks odd and I feel like a boy.

After taking these, I realized I have no color to make the outfit pop but for the sake of time, I decided to not re-shoot.

I figured my gorgeous Chanel flap would make up for my boring, non-creative outfit…hehehe

  1. You did a great job at making a tee and jeans look so classy…I'm not usually much of the t-shirt type either 🙂

  2. I agree…I found this one challenging as well, very few plain tees in my wardrobe these days.

You look so great in jackets…and that brooch is such a nice touch!

  3. I have the opposite issue. I look normal in jeans and a tee, but look odd when all dressed up, haha. There's nothing wrong with "boring" 🙂 This outfit is you and you look great, Annie!

  4. lol @ Cee… I've felt like that so many times.

And Annie, you could NEVER look like a boy! You're crazy! This is a gorgeous look; that blazer is definitely worth the money as it makes you look like a million bucks. And I always love the brooch!

  5. One of my fave ones this challenge! (I've only seen like 5 so far haha) I love how you matched the shoes and the tee. Details really get to me. 😛 You look fabulous as usual! Even in a plain tee 😀

  6. No way you could ever look like a boy! I think a v-neck tee on you would look very nice, although still casual. I like your outfit – it's very professional and feminine. Very you!

  7. I feel weird wearing just a plain tee in public too….like being naked, hehe. I like the grey tones, and not to worry about color, I noticed your nail-polish color popped with this outfit 🙂

  8. Oh Annie, you could never be mistaken for a boy 😉

Really great job, for some reason I was surprised that you actually owned a plain t-shirt LOL! I'm so used to thinking you have all these fabulous business-y clothes. 🙂 And of course Chanel will ALWAYS dress up an outfit 😉

  9. Annie, You could never ever be mistaken for a boy! LOL. Instead of color, I think you did great adding texture to your outfit the tweed and the quilted Chanel! =)

  10. Your look is definitely super classy, could never look like a boy! *drool* over Chanel..I decided to go with Balenciaga as my designer bag indulgence this spring 🙂

  11. Love it and yes I would sell my first born for a Chanel bag (well maybe my second born) lol, just kidding (or am I?)

  12. The flower pin made a really nice pop against your outfit in my opinion! The Theory blazer looks like a classic piece in your wardrobe love that it can look so great with a pair of jeans.

  13. I actually think you look super cute in just tee and jeans! But then again I am used to seeing that on myself 🙂
