Top: Theory ruched blouse– size P (buy here)
Skirt: H & M pleated- size XS (exact version here)
Belt: Ann Taylor perfect patent skinny belt- size XS (similar here)
Shoes: Aldo gray pumps- size 5 (similar here)
Necklace: Pearls
This blouse is my new favorite top. I scored it at Saks 5th Avenue (outlet) for only $40. It’s 100% silk and fits really nicely. The detailing on the sleeves is all time favorite! I love ruched sleeves and will pretty much buy anything with cute sleeves:) The top along with a Theory skirt in 00 wasn’t even on the floor, the SA asked if she could help and usually I just say no thanks but for some reason, I decided to ask if she had any Theory stuff. And to my surprise she said she was just about to put a bunch on the floor but will go check for any tiny sizes. She came back with a few items which I quickly grabbed before anyone else saw me.
This skirt was only $17.95 and the XS fits perfectly. The length is longer than usual but I think it works with the pleated detail. The waist is expandable which makes it fit small waists. The bright and bold color is definitely different for me but I love toning it down with my gray blouse. I am totally eyeing this white one and waiting for it to go down in price.

The only complaint and warning I should tell you about is that it’s a bit see through because there is no lining. The skirt is very thin and probably will pill after several wears. You can’t tell in these pics but you will have to wear a slip underneath if you wear it to work. You can find cheapie ones like this with a bit of lace.

Sorry these pics aren’t the best but I did not have time or the patience to re-shoot. Here is what the skirt looks like from behind. Sorry for the dark shadow- was in a hurry. If anyone needs the tag for the skirt- please let me know! Oh and I pre-bought my early b-day present (which will be from Hubby). I’m not sure who else does this but I like to pick out my own gifts…hehehe So stay tuned to see what it is!! So freaking excited!!!! Here’s a close-up of the pleats:

Part 3: Wardrobe Staples You Must Have

  1. OMG! I WON! 🙂 HAPPY DAY!

I never thought gray and red would look good together! I love the blouse, and loving pleats skirt as well! Beautiful!!

  2. Hey I pre bought my g'day gift from hubby too n generally like telling everyone what I would like as a gift 😉 lovely colors both – the grey n the red. U look great 🙂

  3. this red pleated skirt looks so good on you and i love how you paired it with a darker top. the ruching on the sleeves is so pretty and it was such a good bargain too!

    cute & little

  4. Gorgeous skirt! I am so jealous of your Theory deals…I've yet to stumble upon any good deals but maybe one day!

    Congrats to the winners.

  5. I definitely think the skirt fits you great! not too bright at all! And since you paired it with darker grays and blacks it definitely tones it down! Great combination! Thanks!

  6. So elegant! I actually saw both the red and navy of this skirt yesterday when I was looking for the mint shell I saw on you and Jean. I ended up passing on the skirt because I bought the white eyelet skirt from The Limited. But seeing your pics makes me want to go back and take a second look…

  7. @R.L. And omg….I am so excited for my bday present..LOL It's not a purse…I'll tell you that:) I don't want to jinx myself until I get it in my grubby little hands 😀

  8. no not too bright.

i wish the top of the skirt wasnt the way it is. that's the only part i dont like. but navy sounds so amazing to own.

  9. I saw that skirt on the weekend and was *THIS* close to buying it. But then, I was like, What in the world am I going to do with this??? It's so not me. LOL. Sometimes I find it difficult to resiste buying things because I can think up lots of ways to wear it. Just because I can think up ways to wear it, doesn't mean I actually *will* wear it. I think the problem has gotten worse since I started blogging. Sure I can take a few photos for my blog, but realistically, will I really wear it? This time I managed to put it down. I love the bright color of it though, and I also really liked it in navy.

  10. ah! i'm posting our skirt for tomorrow 🙂 editing the photos right now haha. we had closet telepathy. congrats to the winners

  11. Pretty pleats and gorgeous color! How do you wash a garment like this? I would be afraid of the skirt losing its shape.

  12. So beautiful the skirt! Want it badly. Wish the quality is better though. Thanks for sharing the details. It seems worked very well in your pictures.

  13. I saw that skirt at H&M, and now I regret not waiting in the mile long line to try it on lol! It looks so pretty on you, I think the color is perfect for this time of year.

  14. Love, love the pleated skirt and don't think the color is too bright for you at all! You always rock bright colors and they all go so well with your skin tone. So glad you got these great finds – yay for the helpful SA!

  15. @Anonymous Hi there! How ironic! I just bought an Anthropologie dress slip which I will do a post about:) You should check them out or UrbanOutfitters has a really highly rated slip dress but most colors are on back order:)

  16. The skirt is stunning!! Usually I'm not a big fan of tiny ladies wearing knee length dresses because it can look very unflattering easily, but you can totally pull off this length!

  17. I'm sure you know you have amazing style, but might I add–your hair looks so healthy and pretty!! Lovely blog, I'll be following now : )

  18. @Emma Awe yay! Thanks so much Emma! That means A LOT to me! And my hair…oh you think so? That totally made my day!!!! It's taken me 2 years to get it back to healthy from having light hair 😀
