Review: Ann Taylor Summer Sandals

I have been looking for two types of sandals, dressy and casual. I am super particular when it comes to sandals. Buying pumps is easy, I just have to make sure they are small enough and fit but sandals, there are so many crazy styles and trends out right now. I went a little bit sandal crazy during the Ann Taylor 40% off sale. Up first are the holly gladiator sandals in limelight:

Holly Gladitator heels in limelight- size 5

Likes: I loved the color because it’s so unique and it’s the same color as my limelight belt and cardigan that I adore. The heel height is 3 1/2″ which is perfect. It is well constructed and definitely nice quality. The fit is fairly nice, but there is some room near my toes. When I first put them on, I thought it was a perfect fit since there was no heel gap but then upon closer look, there was too much space in front of my toes.
Dislikes: The double straps are a pain for lazy people like me. I’m not 100% sure what I would wear this with but I can see myself pairing it with a navy blue pleated skirt from H & M (need to find soon).

Price: $198 with 40% off= $118 (still pricey)

Verdict: Undecided…return?

Flora Oxford Wedge– size 5

Likes: I had high hopes for this one because it’s almost a flat sandal which means I could take it on vacations or wear it shopping on the weekends. I love the color and they are so comfortable! The tiny wedge heel is perfect since my feet don’t do well with flat shoes.
Dislikes: Theses sandals fit really nicely everywhere except the ankle strap part. I don’t know if they are supposed to be that loose. You can’t really tell from the pics above but something was off. I’m not too keen on the ankle strap cutting off my already very short legs.

Price: $178 with 40% off $106 (still pricey)

Verdict: Return

Jasmine Strappy Kitten Heel- size 5 (similar here)

Likes: I love the color of these because they almost match my skin tone. So even though they have the similar ankle strap style, it doesn’t cut off my legs as much. They are super comfortable and loving the lower heel.
Dislikes: At first glance, I thought these were a definite return but after taking these photos and walking around the house, there’s not much I don’t like. The only downside is the practicality, would I really wear these enough to get my money’s worth? I definitely wouldn’t wear these to work so I just need to make sure I can wear them often enough.

Price: $99 with 40% off = $59.99

Verdict: Torn…possibly keep?
I also got these gladiator sandals in 2 different colors but the size 5 is way too big for me. And the quality was really poor. And these were a flop as well. So I guess my search continues! No more Aldo sandals for me! The prices are attractive but not only is the fit inconsistent, the quality is sub-par.

Which ones do you think I should keep and return?

  1. All great! Love the color of the first ones!!

The second one is cute too! I tend to wear strappy gladiator type of sandals like that strictly with short shorts to keep my legline long. I usually have the opposite problem with ankle straps being too tight on me. I like them to fit just right and if you already mentioned them being loose on the ankles, I say return them. Once I find a flaw with something I buy, I know I will think about that each time I put them on. So like my mama tells me "I know you Erica, return them!" lol

  2. i like the first pair because they're so summery! i dislike the price (return). the last one is nice and subtle – if you have similar pairs you can pass. middle one: not so good.

i love the little gif things you made 😀 ! i want to do that too with my shoes hehe

  3. I agree with you on all counts. I think the first ones are okie but a little pricey still and that also goes for the 2nd ones. They're just a little too simple for that price. I most especially agree with you re: Aldo! I have never ever been comfy with any Aldo sandals I've ever bought!

    Good luck with your decisions!

  4. I vote for return on the first two. I like the first one, but see very small usage model for the price. The second one is just no good, for the reason you mentioned. The third one I think is a keeper if you actually wear heels in the weekend. Can you imagine walking in these to do a day of mall shopping? If the answer is yes, then keep. I have some very good luck with Aldo on sandals. Last year I had to buy a spare because it was soooo comfortable. 🙂

  5. @Vicky Oh Vicky- my voice of reason..hehehe I think Aldo wedges are comfy but all other shoes are so painful. I think I could actually wear these shopping- they are seriously really comfortable..LOL Totally unexpected because they look ugly right out of the box.

  6. The first pair is my favorite. Although, they're still too pricey for a pair of sandals (but the color is soooooooo gorgeous). If you're going to keep one, I vote for the limelight ones. They're just so fun 🙂

  7. I bought the second pair and am having the same dilemma about the ankle strap. I really love the way they look and fit everywhere except the ankle strap. I was able to get them on sale for $71 though so I think I might keep them.

I think you should keep the third pair, they look great on you.

  8. I don't have a huge like for either pair and sounds like you are no loving any of this enough either (??). so, in this case I'd return all of them and keep looking for the right shoes ^^-Claud (can't post commenst anymore with my google connect acc…oh blogger)

  9. I love the look of the first ones on you. I don't like the second ones on you at all. I bought these as well and returned them. I have the third ones in black and am still debating whether I want to keep them. I am Petite too and not sure if the ankle strap makes a petite person look shorter. They are cute though.

  10. I like the Jasmine kitten ones the best! They're cute and were at a pretty decent price. The 1st ones are cute but I think I'd wait for it go on further sale esp. since you don't yet know what to wear it (though the pleated blue skirt sounds lovely with it!).

  11. I like the look of the first and last one on you, but feel like you may be able to find these styles for cheaper elsewhere (the first citrine color is gorgeous though and I haven't seen anything else like it). Since you're on the fence and price is a factor, perhaps shop around some more first?

  12. I think if the last ones are comfy [something we can't really tell from the pics haha!] then keep! My weekend shoes are all flats but that's because I'm clumsy! I think they match your skin tone amazingly.

The first one is so unique and pretty!

  13. I really love the citron and the kitten heels. Shame the ankle is too loose on the wedge – I have the same issue with my ankles! I see the citron brightening up all your neutral outfits but if you don't wear them for work it might not work out cost per wear. My new rule is things have to earn their way into and to stay in my closet.
    Great choices!

  14. I looove that first pair on you! What a beautiful color and it matches things already in your closet. KEEP KEEP KEEP!

I am with you on the second pair and I am neutral about the last pair.

  15. I like the color of # 2 & 3 but personally I stay away from anything with ankle straps, but # 3 looks doable and look so pretty on you, as always.

  16. none.

if i had to choose, i guess i'd choose the first pair. but they're strappy, caged AND citrine heels? Think it might be a bit too much.

    2nd one is a no.

3rd one looks good in pics, but don't love it up close in the .gif photos.

p.s. did you hair get darker?

  17. @AubreyOhDang! Thanks Aubs! And no my hair didn't get darker…does it look darker? Oh gosh..not darker! LOL It's all 100% my natural hair color…took me a long a**time to grow it out from my carmel hair! Heheheh Maybe the lighting?

  18. Aww, darn, I think those oxford wedges would look great with shorts on you! But I understand your decision to return them. For that price, I'd want to be 100% satisfied and love them enough to wear them with anything! lol

  19. omg you have tiny feet like my bestfriend. she has a hard time finding size 5s that fit properly…and Aldo is always a hit or miss for her too.

I think u should keep the oxford wedges.

  20. i think the Jasmine Strappy Kitten Heel are the best.
love your lace white skirt, where did you get it from?

    xoxo-
    wendy

  21. I love the Jasmine Strappy Kitten Heel! they would definitely be something I would HAVE to try on before I buy but they look AMAZING on you!

BTW- Your outfit is very cute, especially the skirt!
