Petite Fashion Challenge #9: Heat Wave Appropriate

This month’s petite fashion challenge is hosted by Elle from Fast Food & Fast Fashion
The challenge is: “How to dress when it’s 90 degrees outside and 65 degrees inside.”

PFC1

Dress worn as a top: Ann Taylor crochet lace dress- size 00p (similar here or here)
Skirt: Petite Sophisticate skirt (hand me down and tailored)- size 0P (similar here and here)
Blazer: H & M – size 2 (cute version here or here)
Belt: Ann Taylor perfect patent belt- size XS (similar here)
Shoes: Ann Taylor perfect patent pumps- size 5 (lizard version here or canvas version)
Ring: YSL arty ring in lapis– size 4 (buy here)
Necklace: Pearls (similar here and here)
This challenge was perfect for me because I live in Southern CA where it’s extremely hot (sometimes over 100 degrees) and then my office feels like a meat locker. I might a well hang meat from the ceiling. And not only that but sometimes I am out in the field for work – meaning, I am not chained to my desk all day. I’m constantly going in and out of the office throughout the day so it’s particularly challenging for me to make sure I have the proper attire on.

Light cardigans and blazers are usually my best friends for the office in the Summer.  I would literally freeze to death w/out them.  But I definitely have to peel off layers when going outside. I try to wear something underneath my blazer/cardigan (lightweight blouse or sleeveless top) that I can still look professional w/out the outer layer.
Sorry I wasn’t as creative but this is really what I do for the high temperatures outside and freezing temperatures in my office. I am looking forward to seeing all the ladie’s ideas and outfits!

  1. Looks like sleeveless shells and pencil skirts are getting some major love from the petites! How are you able to wear a whole dress under the skirt in 90+ weather?! The very thought makes me sweat…lol. But I do love the play on textures that the lace dress adds to the outfit. =)

  2. Wow, I'd imagine that wearing a dress as a top can get hot – especially so in the terrible weather most of the US has been experiencing. Have you had any problems with that?

I do love this look – the pink skirt and blue blazer look so nicely together.

  3. Oooo love the animation, Annie. ๐Ÿ™‚ The pink skirt is definitely one of my favorite skirt of yours.

  4. Kudos for wearing this dress in the heat! I haven't been wearing mine much lately because it now needs a good cleaning after I've sweated buckets in it, lol.

  5. Love the animation!! Annie, that is such a perfect way to show off this challenge. I'm loving the lace with the pink and navy – gorgeous!

  6. Great look..I love how you combined these colors together! I'm in Cali as well so this is definitely relevant for me ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. When temperatures get hot… look hotter! That's the spirit, Annie! ๐Ÿ˜€ All kidding aside, you look beautiful as ever. Heat can be pretty brutal here in Texas. It would probably seem more manageable heat in California compared to here in Texas (especially here in Houston). Anyhow, this is very nice. I even liked you went with this light pink skirt since lighter colors help you cool off better (or so I hear) when it's hot. Great stuff!

  8. you always look amazing! I'm loving the color of the skirt! I'm seeing lots of blazers in this challenge…and it makes me wonder why I'm having such a hard time finding summer blazers that fit. I really need to find an H&M store!

  9. I think you look chic and alluring, and totally on trend with your pop of color and lace! Lace is always such a huge staple of the spring/summer season… and I think you look lean, slim and tall with that blazer.

Way to show us how to do it!

  10. @Anna hi Anna!! I haven't had any issues during the hot weather- wore this the other day when it was close to 100 degrees and I managed okay:) fashion before comfort..lol
