I am always on the look out for matching skirt suits and especially the ones I can mix and match with. I plan on pairing the jacket with a white pencil skirt and pairing different tops with the skirt.  I am a sucker for anything tweed and when you combine that with a skirt and cropped blazer, I am hooked.  As soon as this tweed suit came online, I knew I had to have it. I had my fingers crossed that it would fit with minimal to no alterations. I adored the shirred peplum back and thinks it adds a nice feminine touch. The light ‘doe tweed’ color is exactly what I needed in my wardrobe. I don’t have any light colored tweed skirt suits and this would be a perfect addition.

This pleated front shell was one of the items I added to my cart as a filler and then ended up loving. It fits perfectly.  Most tops these days are so wide with large armholes which makes tucking in very difficult.  This one is cut very narrow and is a nice change from my chiffon ruffle shell from the factory that I wear to death. I regret not getting the warm ecru color but will most definitely be stalking online for it come back in my size. I love the blush nude color and have a feeling this will get a lot of wear.

I am a bit torn on how I feel about the subtle back sweep of this skirt.  I like that it adds a modern twist but I would much prefer a traditional vent in the back. I think it would look much nicer if the skirt fit properly so you can see the sweep more (like on the model). The fit isn’t perfect and although I had high hopes, I knew it would require some minor alterations.
The price is quite expensive now but would highly recommend it to fellow ladies in need of a light weight tweed suit.  I can see this transitioning into Fall/Winter with brown tights. See me pairing the blazer with a white pencil skirt here.

Verdict: I think I will keep it and make minor alterations.
What are your thoughts on this tweed suit? Do you think it’s worth tailoring?

  1. I am not sure about tailoring or anything like that, but this suit on you looks amazing. Your allure shines again with this sweet skirt suit. This sleeveless blouse is a lovely compliment to the suit. Sheer loveliness, Annie!

  3. You seem to love everything about it (the quality, material, and color) and it looks great on you. It’s not as though this is a piece you’ll wear for a season; it’s an investment piece that’s timeless and a wardrobe staple that you’ll use for a very long time. I highly recommend making sure the fit is exactly how you want it and will feel most comfortable.

  9. Great classic find. Thanks for sharing Annie. I love the color of this set (and prefer the blazer worn open best). I can’t even tell the skirt is one inch too big. 🙂 I love it with the white skirt too (very summery and office comfy chic).

  11. I love the top – such a pretty color and love the front detailing. I’m not so sure about the suit. Maybe I can’t see past the fit? The jacket seems boxy and the sleeves are at an awkward length (and kind of wide). I don’t think minor alterations will fix everything 🙁 I hope this doesn’t come off as mean!

  15. Hi Annie,
As a fellow “petite” I know the pain (or frustration) of trying something on that I love and envisioning it with a perfect fit! Sigh….. No,in my opinion, I don’t think this particular suit is worth tailoring. Both pieces appear too big for you, the jacket is boxy and I agree with your “in need of a vent” statement! Hold out for a classic………..

    • Thanks Diane for your honest opinion. I really appreciate it. After dissecting it some more, you are right – I should hold out for a better fit and classic look. The non vent in the back is just not for me.

  17. I'm sorry you think I am boring. My blog showcases what I wear in real life and if that happens to be a pencil skirt, blouse and a Chanel bag, so be it. If that is boring, then I'm sorry.

  19. I fully understand your frustration, usually the cloths that I try don’t fit me how they will suppose to do, and not for being too petite, but for not being tall and too curvy…with patience you will find all that you are looking in cloths…

  21. The suit is too big for you and washes you out. Full dusty pink is really hard to pull off. I’d really like to see you branch out more because it seems like the past few months have been multiples of the same outfit- pencil skirt, pumps and chanel purse.
