I have a love/hate relationship with this dress. I got it during Forever 21’s BOGO sale and this is the dress I got for free. Well I actually bought it at full price, returned it and re-purchased during the sale. Are you guilty of doing this when something goes on sale?
I love the style of this dress and the ruching/drape detail is very pretty but there are so many issues with this dress. I usually don’t like wrap style dresses only because I usually have to wear a cami to cover up but this dress but this one isn’t revealing so I’m able to get away with just folding the flap over my chest. 
The material is so thin and very wrinkly (see HERE when it came out of the packaging). I spent a good 20 minutes trying to steam it out. You definitely have to wear body shape underneath this dress to hide panty lines. I am realizing that some of my outfits look much better on Instagram than they do when I actually post them on the blog – see example HERE. I thought this outfit looked really nice and then I took these pictures and was like hum…not that great!

I actually think the dress looks great on you, but I know what you mean about thinking an outfit looks great until you actually take pictures of it…happens to me all the time! 🙂

I’m not in love with this dress either, so I can see why you are debating it. The proportions and cut are wrong. It’s too long, and the draping across the front doesn’t fall correctly at all times. The opening shot of you walking with the blazer is a good illustration of what I mean. You’d need to be a “still life” to keep this dress looking right at all times LOL.
This criticism has nothing to do with you, by the way! I hope you know that! It’s totally a criticism toward the spotty quality you get with Forever 21 and H&M items. If anyone can make this dress look awesome, it’s you!
The color is very nice, but I think it’s one of those purchases that you can’t multi-purpose. In other words, wear it alone/belted on date nights or out with the girls, but I don’t think it’s meant to style for work with structured blazers, or long cardigans because it may be tough to find pieces that look right with the proportions of the dress. It’s the wrong proportion & style for you & that’s before you get to the fact that it doesn’t even fit right with the weird bunching at the waist, the belt makes it more obvious. The blazer makes the outfit even worse – its entirely the wrong color and fabric & it looks like its a size too small in the bust & waist in the first picture.

I can relate to your concerns regarding wrinkles, and maybe this dress was high maintenance and only looks good in pictures, but I think it looks great and accentuates your figure very well. I have definitely returned something in order to get a discount! During the Banana Republic Friends and Family sale I bought several pairs of pants and a pair of flats in the wrong size and color because they didn’t have my size in stock, then I ordered them online in my size then returned them and exchanged them with the ones I got at 50% off. Heheh.

It doesn’t fit, and its poor quality material – you can see your bra outline quite clearly in the last photo. No way you should be wearing that in the office.
