I honestly cannot believe it’s almost 2018. It’s been a crazy few years for me and I’m looking forward to a fresh start in the New Year. I mentioned the other day on social media that I’m really working hard at letting my guard down. I’m typically a very private person so putting myself out there is one of my biggest challenges. Today I’m partnering up with Express in their #ExpressWhatYouWant campaign and will share what kind of changes I want in the upcoming year.
I’ve always been afraid to really show my true self in fear of being judged, criticized, laughed at etc. We all have our insecurities and I certainly have plenty to go around. Yeah I get it, having a blog and being an influencer, judgement and criticism comes with the territory. That doesn’t mean that our feelings don’t get hurt along the way. We are still human. Just because we are share ourselves and our daily lives online doesn’t mean we’re invincible.
I think becoming a Mommy changes you internally and you stop caring so much about what others think. Of course, there are days where I still care – it’s hard not to when it’s my business and livelihood. In 2018, I really want to make an effort to show more of myself. Let my walls down, be more open and just be me. Believe it or not, there’s much more to me than just fashion! 🙂
Before I get too deep and continue my rambling…let’s talk about this velvet dress. How gorgeous is this little red number? What a perfect dress for a holiday party or New Years Eve! You’ll definitely turn some heads in this – there is no question. Sizing runs true to size and I’m wearing XXSP. I can’t get enough of velvet this season and the ruffles are to die for. This is such a beautiful dress and you look great! I love the ruffle details on this dress and the plum lips. ???? I think it’s great that you are trying to let your guard down. I know it isn’t easy and it’s nerve wrecking but it can also be liberating. I think a lot of the times we worry about what other people say and as mom too, I can say that I have grown a thicker skin to shrug off comments or judgement but you know it isn’t always the case. I grew up in a traditional Filipino household and my mom is my biggest critic. While I can shrug off everyone else, I always get bothered if she has a comment. I am still trying to let my guard down with her. It sometimes feels like one step forward two steps backwards. But we must keep chugging along so I am cheering for you.
