Happy New Year! Hope you had an amazing holiday. Now it’s time to get back in the swing of things. I’m beyond excited for 2018. Each New Year gives me an opportunity to reset the clock, start over, start fresh and get re-motivated. I love writing down my goals and affirmations. I really want to shake things up this year and challenge myself. One of my goals is to let my guard down more. It’s so difficult for me to do because I’m usually a very private person. Today’s post is a bit different than my usual outfit post. I want to share some positive affirmations that I use to help me stay grounded and keep me motivated. Life is tough and we all need more positivity in our lives.
First thing is first. If you’re not happy about something in your life. Change it. Right now. Just do it. It’s cliche to say but life is way too short not to be happy. I’m a huge believer in positive thinking and affirmations. It’s played a huge role in how I got to where I am today. Is my life perfect? Heck no – far from it however I do take the steps to make sure I am living the life I want to live.
One of the first things I say each morning when I wake up is this: “Today is going to be a great day!” Sounds cheesy and pretty simple yet it’s quite powerful. It’s amazing when you start your day with a positive thought, it really does make a difference.
We have two simple choices each day. You’re either going to choose to be on the happy side of the menu or the grumpy side. Wouldn’t you agree that it takes way less effort to be happy than grumpy. Grumpy people suck.
Misery loves company right? Get rid of the toxic and negative people in your life. They suck the life out of you! It’s time to say bye bye. Negative people are draining, exhausting and plain not fun to be around.
One of the best lessons I’ve learned in business is to not dwell on things. Allow yourself 15 seconds to think about whatever bad happened and move on. This is a VERY difficult mental activity even though it seems fairly basic. Obviously this will not pertain to ALL aspects of life but you get what I’m saying.
Eating healthy and exercising is another great way to improve your life. Even just going for a quick 15 minute walk each day makes a huge difference. Fresh air is a must especially if you’re a stay at home mom, work in an office or an environment that doesn’t allow you go outside often. Instead of taking the elevator, why not take the stairs? Instead of having fast food, why not pack a lunch with fruits and vegetables? I firmly believe the fuel we feed our bodies has a great impact on our overall health and our moods.
Here are some new affirmations I have for 2018:
– I’m a wonderful mother!
– My business is thriving!
– I love life!
– Milan is healthy and has no more eczema!
– I am healthy and happy!
– My family and friends are healthy and happy!
– I will exceed all my goals for 2018!
– I’m relaxed and not stressed.
– I will not let things that are out of my control dictate my mood.
Stop what you are doing RIGHT NOW. Go and write down 5 affirmations or goals you want for 2018. Keep them by your vanity or nightstand. Say them in the morning and at night or be an overachiever and say it throughout the day. It seriously works! The thoughts you feed your mind will change your life.

Sorry for rambling…I just feel a charge of renewed energy and motivation! Now let’s talk about this outfit. This sweater dress is shockingly very petite friendly! FYI – I have it belted up to wear with over the knee boots but the true length hits me at my knees. It’s very form fitting and size USA 2-8 fits like a 00p however has a lot of stretch. I’m always on the hunt for cute sweater dresses and this one is nice quality at a great price plus it comes in 12 different colors.
One of my goals this year is to remix my old clothes more. This tweed coat is an oldie but a goodie and requires NO alterations. Amazing quality and petite friendly (runs small). Also, my cable knit beanie is on sale for $14.99 – it’s my favorite one! Wishing you a happy, heatlhy and prosperous New Year! 🙂 XO
