Today’s outfit is simple, classic and on sale! I’ve had lots of requests for more work outfits so here is one of my recent favorites. Back in they day, I used to spend SO much money on alterations however in the past few years, I’m become way more pickier about what I buy. If it doesn’t fit right, it goes back. Now, the item has to be amazing for me to spend any money on tailoring. It’s so rare to find clothes (especially work clothes) that fit right off the rack.
It’s been a LONG time since I’ve found a pencil skirt that fits this nicely. Ann Taylor sizing is hit or miss for me and most of their skirts run big. They never seem to fit right and I usually have to take in the waist/sides. Luckily this marled knit pencil skirt fits like a glove. I love the fitted silhouette – so flattering and slimming.
Since there’s no zipper (encased elastic waistband), this style always seems to fit me the best. The waist measures 12″ laying flat across and the length measures 21.5″. It does have a back vent to make walking easier and the best part – it’s machine washable! Woo hoo! Always a plus in my book.
The color is a dark blue, almost navy – not black. If you prefer a different color, it also comes in this black/gray combo. It looks like tweed but light weight for spring. Love it and would highly recommend!
I can’t remember the last time I bought a blazer or found one that I even liked. It’s been awhile! I was unsure about ordering this one because of the linen blend however I’m so glad I did. It is AMAZING. The piping and gold buttons is like J.Crew meets Ann Taylor. Preppy and classy. It’s not as boxy as most of Ann Taylor blazers I own. The sleeves are supposed to be 3/4″ but fits full length on me. Hooray!
