Review: Ferragamo Quilted Cap Toe Vara Bow Pump

I can’t tell you how good it feels to not be sick and Milan is on her way to a full recovery.  OMG it’s been a rough freaking couple of months!  The fact that Milan and I are both healthy is all I need right now.  Nothing else matters.  Although my emotions are all over the place and each day is a struggle, I feel a sense of clarity like I haven’t felt in a long time.  That alone is a MAJOR win and I’m going to celebrate it.

I keep telling myself if I survive whatever it is that I’m currently going through and I make it out alive when it’s over, I am going to throw myself a party.  A celebration that I made it out of the darkest time of my life.  Whew…it feels good to write this down and share it with you.  It’s therapeutic and gives me a little hope.

It’s been years since I’ve invested in a designer pair of shoes.  I’ve been a long time fan of Ferragamo Vara bow pumps.  They are classic and very comfortable.  Love the little block heel to give a little bit of height but low enough to be able to walk in all day.  As soon as I saw these beauties, I knew they were just what I needed to cheer me up.  Shoes and new hair….yup, it’s time I do things that make me happy.

Sizing runs 1/2 size small on these quilted cap toe Vara bow pumps.  All my other Ferragamo pumps run true to size and the size 5’s are slightly too loose for me (in the back heel area).  These fit perfectly and did NOT require a breaking in period.  The patent leather ones took several times before they felt comfortable and my heel didn’t blister.  These are most definitely expensive and an investment.  It’s not a pair you will wear for one or two seasons, these will be worn for many years and will always stay in style.  I know this price point makes most people cringe so I found some affordable options:

On a side note, if you need a pair of black jeans, these Topshop Jamie black jeans are by far the best pair I’ve ever found.  Trust me when I say I’ve tried basically every brand and every pair known to man kind.  Love the inseam on these – no cuffing or rolling required.  Very slimming, flattering and the high waist is great for concealing tummy area issues.  Sizing runs VERY small so I’d recommend going up 1-2 sizes.  I’m wearing size 24×28 petite and they are tight.

I also wanted to say thank you again for continuing to listen to my heartache issues and supporting me.  I feel SO blessed and grateful for each and every one of you.  Thank you for giving me the opportunity to use my platform to not only heal myself but to help others in the process.  Love you guys so much. XO

  1. Glad to hear you’re doing better.

I would highly recommend talking to a therapist. I did this years ago (after holding things in for years) and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. It helps a lot to purge all those feelings. They can help you see things in a different light.

I added you and Milan to my prayers each day. I wish all the best for both of you. Please continue to let us know how you’re doing. We care!!!

    Your site is awesome BTW.

    • I completely agree with Sherry. I’ve done the same as I felt I was drowning. The first year felt like I was in Hell litteraly. I kept working and taking care as best I could of my responsibilities. But I had a therapist and friends and some family who helped me. I can say without a doubt that when the darkest hours (days, months, years) are over, we get out of this like a real Hero. Even if we tend to diminish our worth most of the time, we are real survivors of whatever bad moments came to us. (Hoping my english is good enough to convey my feelings). Take care all of you who are presently suffering. Hugs and kisses from Quebec, Canada.

  2. By the way, Annie, even if I could be your mother or grandmother, you are a real inspiration to me for fashion ideas but also your great resilience. Take care dear.

  3. You’re the best Annie! I’m glad you and the stylish bambina are on the mend! Your hair is gorgeous and the shoes…ummm, yes please! Totally splurge worth and timeless. You’re gonna get through this trying time and be stronger for it! Thanks for being open—it is inspiring!

    • Aw Michelle….you are so sweet and I really appreciate it! These shoes are EVERYTHING. I love them to death. LOL Here’s to surviving another day! XO

  4. We all go through dark times whether it be from stress from work, kids, school or the husband it always ends up working itself out. I can tell by what’s lacking on your left hand the source of your stress. It’s okay to talk to someone! Let your guard down and take the initiative. It does help!
