How To Organize Your Pantry

how to organize your pantry

Organizing my pantry has been on my to-do list for the past 8 months and I finally did it.  Make sure to read the full post to see the before and after and all the steps to getting your pantry organized.

How to organize your pantry:

Step 1.  Remove all the food from the pantry so you can have a clean slate to work with.

Step 2:  Go through and donate canned goods you don’t need or throw out any old/expired food.  Throwing out food is so hard for me to do because I don’t like wasting food especially during these difficult times.

Step 3:  Organize your food in to categories.  I used these mocha water hyacinth bins to help me stay organized.  I bought three difference sizes – small, medium and large.  You can add these black bin clips (on sale and comes in a pack of 3) so you know what is in each bin at first glance.

Step 4:  For food that is used often, I opted to get these anchor hocking glass canisters with lids.  I also got these hermetic glass jars with chalkboard labels to store brown and white sugar.  If you don’t care for the chalkboard labels, you can get these glass jars instead.

Step 5:  Now it’s time to put back all your food into the appropriate bins!

**Tip** – don’t over stuff each bin otherwise you will never see what’s on the bottom.  Organize each bin accordingly when putting food inside so you can easily reach for them.

before and after how to organize your pantry

The BEFORE and AFTER is just insane!  It drove me crazy walking in my pantry to pure chaos each day.  Now, everything has it’s place and I can easily access what I need.  There’s still a few things (this and this) I want to get but for the most part, it looks much better than it did and my pantry is way more functional.  Yay!

  1. so nice! what type of paper did you use to line your shelves with??

  2. Hey! You’re really very talented decorator! Thanks for this topic. I often have problems with the organization of space and order in the house. Especially when it comes to the kitchen and kitchen partings. Products such as porridge are difficult to keep in perfect order. But I love your advice and I will use it!

  3. First of all, you need good lighting. I noticed this not so long ago, but I realized that good organization also depends on the lighting in this small room.

  4. I’m constantly searching on the internet for posts that will help me. Too much is clearly to learn about this. I believe you created good quality items in Functions also. Keep working, congrats!
