32 weeks and we are finally starting to nest. This pink wall in baby girl’s nursery was just completed and I’m speechless. This is more than just an accent wall. It symbolizes so much more.

I’ve always wanted an accent wall like this. It’s always been a dream of mine but I was never allowed to do anything for Milan’s nursery. I couldn’t even paint her room or hang anything on the walls. I did not think I would ever get another chance at decorating a nursery again.
Thanks to my good friend @aubreyohdang , she recommended @thebespokecraftsman. Finding a good contractor who is reliable, honest and someone you feel comfortable with is incredibly rare. Given my million years of real state and flipping homes experience, I have worked with hundreds of contractors and Carl exceeded my expectations. Believe me when I say this, it takes a LOT to impress me.
There was SO much work and detail that goes into a wall like this. You have to make sure that whoever is doing the work knows what they’re doing. It’s all in the details!
Things to consider:
Outlets: When designing your wall, make sure all the measurements are precise and know where the moulding will hit any outlets. This will affect the overall design and aesthetic. The crib will cover the bottom middle panel so it wasn’t a big deal to me. If we had more time, I would have had the outlet moved but again, no big deal since it’ll be covered. You are probably thinking, why not just cover it completely right? We thought about that but according to a builder friend of ours, it wouldn’t have been to code. I wanted to avoid any issues in the future when we go to sell the home so ultimately we left it and worked around it.
Texture of the wall: If your existing wall has texture (most do), keep in mind that moulding is smooth. Carl added an additional backing so the entire wall would have the same texture. This is a very important step and makes the world of difference when painted.
Baseboards: Another thing to consider is what to do with the existing baseboard. Because the baseboard was a different width than the moulding, it wouldn’t have looked streamlined. You can remove the original baseboard and then reattach it but after seeing how nice it looked without it, I opted to not put it back on.
Choosing a paint color is way more difficult than I thought. I knew I wanted a blush pink but then realized there are a million different shades and options. I also knew I wanted a paint that had no VOC and no odor. I was looking for something subtle and definitely didn’t want anything too dark. Thanks to @our_little_blue_house for suggesting this color. It was exactly what I was looking for and luckily Sherwin Williams was having a sale. I used the Harmony Line which has no VOC and no odor. The color is SW 6322 (intimate white).
I know to most people, this is just a wall. For me, it’s SO MUCH MORE. It represents everything that I’ve been through. The good. The bad. The ugly. It represents hope. Dreams. A bright future. Freedom. To be able to do what I want to do for baby girl’s nursery this time around feels so damn good. I know it sounds weird but this makes me so happy. I’ve come so far and I couldn’t be more thrilled. This baby girl is such a blessing and I’m forever grateful for Mr. Right.

That is beautiful!
Aw thank you!
So beautiful, so excited for you and your growing family!
thank you so much Susan! XO
It’s so pretty! I am truly so happy for you and your precious little girl.
Thank you Kimberly! Means a lot! XX
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this! The wall is beautiful and turned out wonderful. This is a great idea. I know you are having a fun decorating. Also, your dress is gorgeous and looks so pretty on you.
Thank you so much Susan! The wall turned out even more beautiful than I anticipated and I’m so thrilled! Can’t wait until her crib and dresser arrive!
How can you still fit in a size small dress?
no clue but I wore this when I was pregnant with Milan as well. I probably won’t be able to zip it up in a couple of weeks
Here’s something wacky – a little vanilla kills the typical paint smell. Just stir some in. Saw renovators recommending it years ago.
You can also get onion or garlic smell off your fingers by rubbing them on stainless steel. So weird!
Good to know! I’ve never heard of this!
That wall is absolutely amazing, and the color is perfect! I’ve always wanted this in my home…someday when we’re no longer renting!

Beautiful! I am so in love with this shade of pink! What color did you chose for the other walls and trim?
Hello! Thank you for this amazing article! You’re a very talented decorator! I find a couple of your ideas for decoration my daughter’s room. I have spring mood after this decor! I’m really ready for Spring.
Hello! I’m doing a hot air balloon theme for my baby girl’s nursery and I was wondering where you got the hot air balloon with the basket? I clicked on the link but unfortunately her shop is no longer on Etsy. Thank you so much!
Hi there! Oh no! Her shop is called Birds Eye Blue and the owner is Mindy- she is amazing! Let me reach out to her and see if she’s still open!
I just checked and I think she closed her shop – I even tried her Instagram and she hasn’t posted since 2020 🙁
Looks great, although in many cases I find it a bit boring. Sometimes I just want to hang a picture or maybe some kind of poster to make it look better.
