Happy Lunar New Year!
Meadow’s Ao Dai (size 4) + Meadow Ivy white headband | Milan’s Ao Dai (size 8) + flower headband | My Ao Dai + matching head piece (size small)
We had a wonderful weekend celebrating Lunar New Year. We took the girls to a Lunar New Year festival in Balboa Park. I have very fond memories of when my parents used to take our family to Tet. I still remember that the best part was all the good food and watching the lion dances. Milan even got to feed one of the lion’s a lucky money envelope. She was pretty excited. Too cute. Check out this cute video HERE. 🙂
I think it’s so important for Milan and Meadow to be exposed to the Vietnamese culture. I want to teach them as much as I can about my culture and traditions. I’ve been taking Milan to Tet since she was 3 years old. This year was Miss Meadow’s first one and she seemed to really enjoy it. I was pregnant with her the last time I’ve been to a Lunar New Year festival (pre-covid).
On another note, my ao dai runs very small and long. It fits similar to a 00 – maybe even smaller. The length was too long on me but I didn’t have any other choice. Also the pants were too big for me so I used a pair from last year that fit much better. As a reference, I’m 92-92 lbs. and just under 5′ tall. I would love to have one custom made someday.
Happy Lunar New Year to those who celebrate! XO
