Let me kick off by admitting something rather surprising: I’m not exactly a Disneyland enthusiast, or any theme park for that matter. Yes, it’s a bit unconventional, especially considering I have kids. Unlike many, I wasn’t brought up with an affinity for these attractions, and honestly, the hefty price tags, endless queues, and general exhaustion just don’t do it for me.

But, as the parent of two lovely girls, I find myself making the pilgrimage to these magical lands for their sake. After spending the past year planning our trip to Disney World, I’ve gathered some insights on what to do and, perhaps more importantly, what not to do. Through trial and error, I’ve picked up valuable lessons, and I’m hopeful that this guide will be a beacon for any moms out there feeling overwhelmed by the daunting task of planning and coordinating such an adventure.

Now, let me preface this by saying that I’m hardly an expert, but with the memories of our trip still fresh in my mind, I hope that sharing my experiences can prevent at least one person from repeating the same blunders I made.

10 Essential Strategies for Navigating Disney World Like a Pro

1. Utilize the Disney World App for Seamless Planning

Begin your Disney World adventure by downloading the indispensable Disney World app. This all-in-one tool will not only save you precious time but also ensures that everything you need is right at your fingertips – an absolute must for a smooth experience.

2. Early Reservations Ensure a Seamless Experience

Bookings are your best friend when it comes to Disney World. Secure reservations for park entry and meals in advance, as entry is only granted with a reservation. Don’t miss out on coveted experiences like the Mickey Christmas parade by waiting until the last minute – plan ahead to maximize your magical moments.

3. Fast Pass: The Ultimate Time-Saving Hack

Invest in the Fast Pass option to dodge long lines and make the most of your visit. Standing in line for hours is a thing of the past; the Fast Pass is your ticket to a more enjoyable and efficient theme park experience.

4. Capture Every Moment with the Photo Pass

Consider obtaining the Photo Pass for a hassle-free approach to capturing memories. While we didn’t opt for it, the convenience and lasting mementos might make it a choice worth considering.

 5. Prioritize Comfort: Choose Comfy Footwear

Your footwear can make or break your Disney World experience, so opt for comfort over style. Wear sturdy, comfortable shoes to keep you going through the day without any unnecessary discomfort.

6. Be Weather-Ready During Winter Visits

For winter trips, prepare for unexpected weather changes by packing an umbrella and raincoat. You can also purchase ponchos for both adults and kids within the park, ensuring you’re ready for any weather surprises.

7. Stroller Smart: Double-Up for Small Children

If you have multiple small children, bring a double stroller or rent one on-site. Even if you think you won’t need it, having a stroller can be a game-changer in navigating the park with ease.

8. Schedule Well-Deserved Breaks

Make time for breaks to recharge – whether it’s basking in the sun, hydrating, refueling with food, or simply taking a leisurely walk. These pauses will help you maintain energy levels and make the most of your Disney World experience.

9. Sun Protection is Non-Negotiable

Regardless of the season, come prepared with sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats. Prioritize sun safety to ensure everyone in your party stays comfortable and protected throughout the day. It’s always better to be safe than sorry!

10. Pack Wisely: Bring Only the Essentials

Streamline your packing by including only the essentials. Remember, everything you bring, you’ll have to carry. Consider items like your phone, camera, autograph book, water, and sunscreen for a more efficient and lighter Disney World adventure.

Milan and Meadow just can’t stop reminiscing about our recent journey. Our stay at The Floridan Hotel was absolutely breathtaking. It stands out as one of the most exquisite hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting, reminiscent of the charm of Hotel Del Coronado. Before I met my husband, I confess, I wasn’t particularly fond of hotels. There was something about sleeping in my own bed that I found comforting. However, as time went on and we began to explore the world, I realized the magic of experiencing new places outweighed the familiarity of home. While hotels still don’t hold the same allure for me, our extensive travels have certainly helped me adjust to life on the road.

The kids and I are all in agreement—we wouldn’t mind making The Floridan our permanent residence! Our suite was nothing short of spectacular, offering ample space and tasteful decor. Opting for the 2-bedroom suite with a cozy living room was the perfect choice for our family. You can catch a glimpse of our accommodations here.

Though uncertain when we’ll have the opportunity to return, our Christmas spent at The Floridan will forever be etched in our memories. Initially unsure of what to expect, I found myself thoroughly enjoying every moment, creating countless cherished memories with my daughters. Ultimately, that was my goal, and I believe we’ve succeeded in crafting a trip they’ll never forget.
