Jeans: Old Navy in campfire – size 0P (buy here in other colors)
Purse: Prada Gardener Tote (buy here)
Jess introduced me to this scalloped mesh top and even though I knew it wasn’t going to fit, I bought it anyway (had credits to use up). I thought it was so pretty and feminine. I still love the blush lace top from last Summer that she showed me.
The top was a tent on me so I slimmed the sides by 2″ and the sleeves by 1″. After reading What Jess Wore’s review (see her measurements of a small/medium here), I was happy to find out that she was able to shrink it safely! Even though I slimmed it, the length was still long and very awkward. It just didn’t look right. I took the risk and shrunk it once (washed on hot and dried for one cycle). Thank goodness it didn’t shrink to a Barbie shirt! I successfully shrunk the length just enough and the shirt still fits perfectly. I would recommend shrinking first before slimming. You can also see it on Petite Hues here with colored denim.
You’ll want to replace the cami that comes with this top with a tank that has thicker straps. I’m wearing an old white one from H&M. This way, you can hide your bra straps and it looks much nicer.
Do you think this top is a good length on me?
I think the top is perfect on your Annie! I know you’re self conscious about wearing shirts untucked but I like this length on you. I’m so glad you took the risk and shrunk it after you already slimmed it. I think it’s one of my favorite tops with the gathered pleats near the neckline and it looks so pretty on everyone I’ve seen so far. I’m loving your entire outfit too including that bag.
You definitely know me well. I do prefer my tops tucked in. I’m so relieved that I shrunk it to the length without compromising the fit everywhere else. You always find the best tops! 🙂
Thanks Annie. You should definitely consider wearing more of your tops untucked. You won’t look short waisted as long as the bottom is slim fit and the top isn’t any longer than where this one hits you right now.
Sounds good Jess. I’ll try to find the pic of before with the length to show you how ridiculous it was 🙂
It was pretty ridiculous on me too that I didn’t bother with before pictures.
I saw this in store and it is so beautiful on you!!!
Thanks Shira!
I am so buying that top! Looks so elegant and feminine. I also think you look great in jeans and (almost) flats…definitely!
You should get the top! Thanks so much! 🙂
The top is a perfect length on you Annie! I like it, especially after slimming and shrinking it! I’m glad it worked out for you too! (I also took the shrinking advice from @whatjesswore:disqus hehe) I love your outfit, it’s a great weekend outfit, I’m pinning this 🙂
Thanks Christine! This is a very typical weekend outfit for me:) I’m so happy I didn’t ruin it by shrinking after altering it. I was afraid it wouldn’t fit. So happy Jess told us about the shrinking!
The shirt looks like it was made for you! Love this chic and casual look! Beautiful!

Love the white blouse! Great length, and I’m sure you’ll be able to wear it all summer with jeans/crops and tucked into skirts! I can see it now with a long statement necklace!

Thanks Andrea!!
Hi Mariana! Thanks for taking the time to comment 🙂
The scalloped mesh top was easy to shrink. I washed it on HOT and dried on HIGH for one cycle. But keep in mind I had already slimmed the sides and sleeves so it didn’t need too much shrinking. If you need to shrink it more, then I would dry it a couple times but check it frequently so it doesn’t shrink to a barbie size top 🙂
