I tend to shy away from black cotton dresses because I can’t stand how you can see everything like lint and fuzz. It’s one of my pet peeves so I wasn’t expecting to keep this black tie waist dress however…
It’s a keeper! I am ALL about comfort these days and if I can find a dress that’s semi-cute, appropriate to wear while chasing after Milan and has pockets? You know I am all over it. This black tie waist dress is pretty basic but the tie waist and pockets sold me.
Sizing runs large. I’m wearing my usual size XXSP and it’s very generous. I even tried washing on hot and frying it in the dryer and made a small difference but not much. I’m going to do it a second time but I’m worried the length will shrink too much. Will keep you posted.
The tie waist most certainly helps pull and cinch the dress to give it some shape. The arm holes are slightly big and overall it fits more like XSP than XXSP. Vanity sizing at it’s best. 🙁 . I’m glad it’s now low cut and the length is just right (hits me right at the knees). The material is 100% cotton and very soft.
You can tie the waist a few different ways. Tie it into a bow like the first several photos or knot it once and leave it hanging or tie into a side knot (like on Loft’s website). I have yet to try this but it looks pretty cute on the red dress. Overall, it’s a cute, basic dress that’s great for lazy summer days. Overall, I like it and would recommend.
