H & M Recent Finds: To Keep or Not?

I was able to check out this H & M that I have never been to because I had a near by appointment for work so what better excuse to pop in! I didn’t have very much time so I just grabbed these items on a whim. So please help me decide to keep or if I should return?

1. Mustard Sweater dress, $19.95 on sale for $10- size 2

I am torn about this one but not sure when I will really wear it. But for $10, is it worth it or will it end up in my donations pile? This dress has been purchased!

2. Ruffle Wrap Dress, $34.95- size 2
260x730 IMG_2809

I thought this was super cute in-store and the fit is really nice but it’s just too much for me. I think this is a return.

3. Scarf, $12.95 on sale for $5
IMG_2824

I am indifferent about this. It’s obviously not of high quality but there is something unique about the print that makes me want to keep it…yay or no?

4. Flower Pins, $4.95 each
IMG_2818
Do I really need more flower pins? And since these are printed, they will be harder to match with. I got so excited at the store and just grabbed them…I wish I had more time in stores to really think about my purchases. It sure would save me a lot of time having to go and do returns frequently!IMG_2826
On a separate shopping trip (yesterday), I picked up this Forever 21 Turquoise Antique Fillagree Ring in a size 6 (similar to my Coral and Ivory ring)
Empress Sparkle Turqouise Ring– $4.85 (avail in 3 different colors)

**a size 6 fits my middle finger perfectly so the fit is more like a small size 5 ring**

I didn’t see this in-store but these earrings that I have in olive green are now available in turqoise and they are so pretty!!! I am into turquoise and coral these days. I think I am getting ready for Spring and Summer! I haven’t ordered these yet but wanted to show you.

I also picked up this skirt at Floral Twisted Skirt from Loft in a XXSP for only $4,  PetiteLG tweeted a pic of it. Not sure if it fits yet because I haven’t tried it on. And I got this ruffle top in XXSP that Vicky from Vicky’s Fashion has. I got both items for only $1.88 with my $20 Loft bucks! How crazy is that?

Which items should I keep from H & M? Lesson learned- make sure you have time to thoroughly think about your purchases instead of just grabbing whatever you see…I may return everything:( Have a great weekend everyone!

Part 2: 5 Wardrobe Staples You Must Have

  1. I absolutely think the wrap dress is a keep! The mustard dress is okay but maybe it's because I am not a fan of sweater material dresses; they are emtremely hard to wear with leggings or tights or any hosiery because it likes to cling! I vote yes for all except the mustard dress!

  2. wow, you had quite a shopping trip considering you didn't have much time. i really love the mustard color of the dress on you, but i don't think the fit is that flattering. as for the ruffle wrap dress, that one is gorgeous and definitely flatters your figure! if you were to return one of those items, my pick would be the mustard yellow dress.

the flower pins and scarf i think were a good buy for $5. the scarf has a really lovely pattern and i know you could mix this into quite a few outfits. and even though the flower pins are printed, i think it would go great with more solid-colored outfits like you have shown here.

those F21 earrings are lovely! i feel like they're similar to a pair of Amrita Singh earrings I saw yesterday on HauteLook!

and of course, you have great taste in rings. this one will look great!

can't wait to see the LOFT items on you too!

    cute and little
    enter my giveaway!

  3. I love the pink wrap dress. It's perfect for spring and is super cute on you. Also, since it's pink, it is a color that you have a lot of so you will be able to mix and match with other pieces in your wardrobe. I think that it's a keeper.

The mustard dress is cute too but I guess that it doesn't appeal as much to me since I really don't care for the color much.

I'm also not into scarves so I can't say whether or not it appeals to me.

I bought a bunch of stuff from Charlotte Russe a few months ago (remember that cashmere shrug you blogged and thought about). I was going to return them but couldn't find the receipt–I think one of my family members took the bag to use and didn't leave the receipt out. *sigh* I think that I might do a giveaway since I won't be using them.

  4. I agree that the mustard yellow dress should be returned, but that you should keep the wrap dress. The wrap dress is sooo cute for spring/summer. But I think the solid mustard yellow color is not very flattering, hard to style, and goes out of style very quickly. I usually wear those kinds of things once and then donate b/c I get tired of it after only one wear.

I like your accessories as well, especially the turquoise ring!

  5. I think you should keep the accessories and return the two dresses. The sweater dress is a bit too bright and if you don't know how you're going to style it, it might be harder to do in the long run. As for the wrap dress, I think I've seen you wear a similar one already, so I don't think you need another wrap dress in that color or print.

I think it's better to stay away from fast fashion places since the quality isn't that great and I'm tempted to buy more things I don't need or wear. =)

  6. I actually REALLY love the wrap ruffle dress on you. Like.. REALLY 100x LOVE IT ON YOU 🙂 I also love the cheap (but awesome) accessories, especially the colorful flower pins 🙂

And I agree with the yellow dress. Return that one but keep the wrap one, please :p

  7. I can't pinpoint it, but something looks off with the mustard dress. I'd vote for a return. I LOVE the ruffle wrap dress on you. It looks so much more flattering.

I want that empress ring!!! In all 3 colors, lol.

  8. so much to say…

    sweater dress:
    A) I wouldn't really call this dress "mustard," as much as "marigold." It's hella bright.
    B) Personally, I think w/your skin, you can pull it off, but it seems you're already hesistant. I don't see what's wrong w/it. I personally love any sweater dress. Can't see how it's not flattering. Other comments didn't really specify. Hugs your waist nicely.
C)I would think you would go about styling it like you style any of your other sweater dresses. cardi? jacket? Don't see how it can be too difficult.

I'm such an odd ball from the rest b/c my least favorite thing is the wrap dress.
    A) Is this a faux wrap dress? if it is, then it's really just a V neck dress if you really think about it.
    B) It's sits more below your bust (empire) rather than at the natural waist. Conclusion: kid like style–not suitable for a wrap dress silhouette. DVF would not support this.
    C) The black sash doesn't really go w/it. ok ok i get that there is black in the dress so it coordinates (somewhat), but it just hangs there. Lifeless. b/c well…it's a faux wrap dress so some kind of "tie" is needed, but it's just so blasé to me. I'd walk this dress w/this reaction: "meh" (rolls shoulder)
    D) Pros-cute pattern, pink, probably real comfortable, flirty ruffles and skirt.

Scarf is confused. Not sure if it wants to be paisley or tribal so the designer put a little of both in there to try to adapt to both trends.

I like the black/cream pattern flower pin b/c well…I bought it so why wouldn't I like it?! I wear a lot of solids so I'm always looking to add a little print in there. You paired it perfectly here.

p.s. Hair's lookin' shiny and healthy Annie!

  9. @kileen LOL I revised my post to mention that it was 2 separate shopping trips..hehehe

And thanks for your input Kileen! The mustard dress is being sold to another petite:) One less return for me!

  10. @Cee Oh Cee! I saw the Empress ring in the other colors and was tempted to buy them too! The blk is super cute too..now I am debating whether or not to go back..LOL

  11. @AubreyOhDang! LOL Oh Aubrey- I love your comments! Thank you for being so detailed and addressing all the items! I REALLY appreciate it and its VERY helpful!!!

I think everything is going back minus the yellow dress since it's sold!

  12. Wow, so many items to comment on.
The golden yellow dress, it's already sold when I saw this post, so I won't add comments any more.
The pink/black dress, I really like it on you. I think it drops 10 years off your age. haha, now I know I'm in trouble now!!!
The scarf I vote for return. I do NOT like cheap scarves. The material is right next to your face, so it better be nice.
The ring is a gem. I think it'll look very nice with a lot of your outfit.
I'm glad you got the Loft shirt, I really like it, and I am sure you will too. 🙂
The Loft mini-skirt is only less than $5 in store. I went to the store to buy it (after asking them to hold the xxsp for me), but ended up not getting. The material of this skirt (2 layers, polyester and nylony) is very staticy. When I put it on, the two layers kept on sticking to each other, and it just looked AWFUL! No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get it to straighten out. So to me, even it was only $5, it was a no go.
You look great in flower pins, so I say the more the merrier. They aren't expensive anyways.
Phew, that is it for now. Hope I didn't burn your ears off.
Have a great weekend, Annie. Can't wait to see your post on the coats!

  13. My favorite pieces are the printed flower pins, scarf and ring….(but I'm an accessories freak 😉 The yellow sweater dress is beautiful with your skin tone, there aren't many people who could pull off that color for sure! The shape of the dress looks amazing! I really think that you'll be able to style this dress a ton of different ways. I think it would look great with leopard accents…or maybe even that new scarf!

  14. I don't like the mustard dress. I don't like the color =(

The ruffle wrap dress is a keep. SUPER CUTE! It flatters you really well too.

I also like the accessories. I think you should keep them.

  15. I think you should buy the pink ruffle wrap dress. It's super feminine and flattering, and would be perfect for a wedding or lunch with the girls… It may not be "you" but it could bring out another side of your personality! Definitely keep the accessories. I'm not a fan of the mustard dress. Don't think it does anything for you, and if it doesn't look cute on YOU, then it has to be the dress, 'cuz you look great in EVERYTHING!

  16. The mustard color is really pretty against your skin tone but it's a little see-through. I like the ruffle dress (but I wish it wasn't trimmed in pink) and the colorful flower pin the best! The good thing about being you is that you look great in everything 🙂

  17. That dress is way too cute on you!! I cannot believe you want to return it!! It is not "too much" on your at all!! Keep, keep, keep!! 🙂

  18. Ohhh KEEP THEM ALL!!! You look soo fantastic in everything! I saw the second dress and wanted to buy it, but was unsure, now I want to buy it even more. Hehehe! It looks so feminine and pretty on you!

  19. I like the yellow dress but not on its own, maybe with a denim jacket?
The wrap dress looks adorable on you but like Stylepint said it reminds me of a dress that I've already seen on you.
Accesories, I'll keep them all. You wear flower pins so well!
