Lookbook: Layering a Cardigan Under a Blazer

Have you looked in your closets and just disliked almost everything you see? That’s kind of what I have been feeling lately. I am trying to donate and get rid of as much as possible because I am coming to the realization that the majority of my clothes, I either don’t like, don’t fit or just poor quality. Blogging really makes me stop to think about what I am going to wear verses just throwing something on like I used to! Here is a casual but yet dressy enough for dinner look:

Sweater: J.Crew Merino Cielo Cardi in Blossom Pink- size XXS (buy here)

Blazer: Theory “Edyna” Blazer- size 00 (similar here)
Denim: Gap Legging Jeans- size 00P (buy here)
Shoes: Cole Haan Sued Pumps- size 5 (buy here)
Belt: Ann Taylor Granite Skinny Patent Belt- size XS (buy here)
Pin: LOFT Flower Felt Gray Pin (ebay)
Purse: Chanel (2010) Medium Classic Double Flap

I used to never wear belts because I never had any that fit my waist! Luckily, I have several now from H & M and Ann Taylor that fit really nicely in XS.

The sleeves are too long and I never bothered tailoring them so I just cuff them and left a little pink sleeve showing- I thought it was cute.

Here is a close-up of all my layers and accessories. I even have purple nails! Just got for .77 from the CVS haul- not bad and totally outside my box! Are my pictures getting better? I don’t know how to edit yet but am going to learn soon:)IMG_2701
I always like to include the back shot of an outfit because I think sometimes we can be fooled at just looking from the front. The back is just as equally important to me as how the outfit looks from the front:)

I think accessories are key to a great outfit. A classic Chanel purse (2010 Classic Medium Double Flap with gold hardware), a flower pin, and some pearls goes a long way! I really want another Chanel this year, maybe a lighter colored one…

This isn’t the best fitting Theory blazer I have but I got it at the Theory outlet last April for a pretty decent price. And I like the length and pattern- it’s the only blazer that looks like this so I can’t complain. And the layered cardi underneath the blazer look- inspired by none other than Kelly from AlterationsNeeded🙂 I pre-wrote this days ago and chuckled when Kelly posted her PFC outfit.

You can easily re-create this look with this ruffle cardigan, add this cute blazer 00 Blazer, throw on your fav pair of skinny jeans, some nice grey pumps, add a belt and some accessories (flower pin, Chanel purse) and you are good to go!
What do you think about this outfit? Love it? Hate it?

  1. Like it! The ruffly cardigan underneath the blazer makes the whole outfit nice and girly. I'm not a big fan of the folded cuff on the blazer with this outfit though. Maybe because it's the only dark thing in your outfit.

I think your pictures look really great! You've seen mine right? Just terrible!

  2. I love that cardigan under a blazer look! I think you did a great job styling it…and yay, another Chanel for you in the not-too-distant future. A beige? or a light pink? maybe even gray which would go with everything in your closet! 🙂

  3. @Elle LOL Elle- you read my mind! I was thinking pink but that would be too hard to match up with, so I am leaning towards grey or beige!!!! They are hard to come by because they are not very popular colors 🙂

  4. I love the layering in this outfit…this cardi I think will prove to be extremely versatile for you! I really like your nail color too!

  5. I adore this look. Been trying out the cardigan under blazers look myself too 🙂

As for a new Chanel, if you're taking votes, the beige clair is simply STUNNING. If I could redo, I might exchange my black for it!

  6. You look really cute in this outfit. I like the grey and lavendar combo. Definitely something that I don't see that often. If I was you, I would leave the sleeves the way they are. It's fun to change things up some time. The sleeves don't have to be perfect in every outfits.

  7. I love this outfit. Love your color combination.

FYI: I am doing a group order on J.Crew and Ann Taylor if you or anyone would like to join =)

  8. Very chic and comfy look. I adore the color combo, so gorgeous. I have the similar feeling about my closet recently and think about a closet cleaning. But I bet I like every piece in your closet. 🙂

  9. I love having a ruffle cardigan peak out from underneath! & You're totally rockin' it here!! I also like how you've ventured into the denim realm. 🙂
I'm dreaming of a Chanel for later this year, but we'll see.

  10. Oh my goodness, I LOVE this look! The peek of pink at the sleeves and the ruffle placket of the cardi just looks so gorgeous paired with the gray – perfect ensemble!!

  11. you're beautiful and love your style. we're kinda chanel twins.. i have the black caviar w/ ghw in jumbo 🙂 you should totally get a beige w/ ghw and get it soon the prices are suppose to go up again in feb!!

  12. @KS I wouldn't recommend it as a work bag…it's great for dinners and wknds but may be a bit too small to lug to work if you have a lot of work items like me:) I use my Chanel GST for work.

  13. I have been browsing on-line more than 3 hours as of late,
but I never found any attention-grabbing article like yours.
It is pretty price sufficient for me. Personally, if all website owners and bloggers made just right content as

you made running a blog look easy. The entire look of your web site is great, let
    alone the content!
