Do you ever have things in your closet that you completely forget about? That’s what happened with my Ann Taylor thrifted pencil skirt. I got it tailored (sides slimmed and waist taken in) and it’s been just hidden in my growing collection of skirts for months. I wonder if it’s because it’s red and I don’t gravitate towards that color or perhaps I have too many skirts . Everything is color coded in my closet so I usually go for what’s easy to pair with like grays and neutrals.  Thanks to blogging, it’s really opened up my eyes to playing with colors and textures.

I was pleasantly surprised how well this red skirt went with the H&M houndstooth blazer. I love how the faux fur collar just adds a touch of class and elegance to this outfit.  I know this blazer is more of a casual blazer but I prefer to dress it up.

My Seiko watch finally makes it’s debut! I can’t get enough of it. The only flaw I could find is that it’s a bit loose even when I took out the maximum amount of links. Other than that, I had no idea I could love a watch so much.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

  1. What a luxurious outfit!! Makes me wanna buy that AT pencil skirt in red!
You definitely make that casual blazer look dressy and elegant! Love it! 🙂

  2. Your watch and necklace match so nicely!!

That is a great red! I have been making an effort to dig for items that do not get as much wear! 🙂

  3. Thanks Vicky. I love my new watch. I couldn't see spending $250 on the MK so this was a close 2nd and I think I like it more. Can't beat the price. And if I knew how to make jewelry, you know I'd be making you one today 🙂

  4. Thanks Michelle! I didn't even plan it that way but you are right! lol

That's what I loved about this skirt is because it was such a deep red and not a bright red. I can wear it to work with so many different tops:)

  5. I totally agree with you Aubs. That's one of the reasons I was drawn to this skirt. The color is really rich in person and much more office appropriate. I am so mad that when I got this necklace, there was an extra one and I should have picked it up! I had no idea it would be so popular:)

  6. Yes, I have lost many things in my closet…. I just found a pink skirt that I bought last year from H&M for only $5… and it still has the tag on it… What do you think will match with the pink skirt (very similar to the one you're wearing)?

    Anyway, love the outfit =)

  7. Wow, I can't believe you got that skirt at the thrift store. It's such a gorgeous red skirt and matched well with the jacket. You look fabulous!

  8. and I never knew I wanted such a necklace til seeing it on bloggers. I'm thinking abt "splurging" and buying this one: http://www.fantasyjewelrybox.com/n505.html?

It is 25% off right now & shipping is a low $2. What are your thoughts? I'm afraid the gold will oxidize & rub off. where did you get the matching bracelet? I saw that Khatu was wearing one from Express and though I found it, I think I'd like the chain links to be flat like this one.

  9. happy thanksgiving!
i love your watch. I was just trying on the MK's one today in gold. Can i ask you what size is your wrist? I'm worried if i get the same one and take out all the links it might be too big still.

  10. happy thanksgiving! i love your watch. i was just trying on the MK one in gold. Can i ask what size is your wrist? I'm concerned if i get the same one and take out all the links it might still be too big as well. thanks!

  11. You are finding such great items through thrifting! I love the combination of fur + houndstooth + red!

I too color-code (and categorize garments by type) my closet so it warms my heart to hear about someone else doing it too. My ultimate wardrobe dream is to have everything photographed and categorized on my computer so I don't have to physically rummage through my closet. You have no idea how many times I've seen something in a past blog post and thought "oh yeah, I forgot I even had that" because it wasn't readily visible in my closet. Eep, sorry for leaving a novel here!

  12. I love that skirt! What a pretty color – I want so desperately to add brighter bottoms to my wardrobe, but like you, I just naturally gravitate to neutrals. And I'm so excited, I scored that exact same faux fur collar on Black Friday for only $9.95. Yay for H&M sales!

  13. You look much better with this knee-length pencil skirt, compared to the super short skirts you always wear. Knee-length is much more classy and office appropriate….and it actually elongates you!

  14. I like long comments SPG so please don't be sorry! So I'm not alone about color coding and by garment type? We are closet sisters! Hehehe I also color coded and coordinated hubby's closet too:)
