This outfit is one of those times when it looked better in my head and when I initially tried it on at home. The striped skirt is really a tunic (I wear it as a dress) which I had to tuck the chambray in place by a belt. Since I take my own photos, I had no idea that my shirt was coming un-done and you could see the bottom of the shirt. The majority of my photos were un-useable thanks to my wardrobe malfunction : (

Bangles: H&M girls (see previous post)
I would have much rather worn my striped navy F21 dress instead of black/white but since it had puffy sleeves, it was way too bulky on top with all the layers. The weather in California has been absolutely beautiful and confusing. I put away all my Summer clothes and shoes but had to take them out again. It’s going to be in the 80’s all week! But trust me, I’m not complaining and don’t envy those in the Midwest or East Coast.
I love my mustard cardigan and leaf ring so much! I can’t thank you enough Vicky! These BR shoes were recommended by Jean several months ago. They run super small and tight. I haven’t broken them in yet so they are extremely uncomfortable. If you are looking for this exact tunic, they are available in the Divided section at H&M for $9.95 and comes in a variety of colors including navy/white.
Here are my instagram photos. I think I am obsessed. It’s so much fun. I even took a pic of my kitchen yesterday: ) If you use it and want to follow me- look for ReallyPetite!
What have been your wardrobe malfunctions?
This outfit is perfection. Love the stripes mixed with the chambray & the mustard warms it all up – fabulous!!
Thanks Kimberly 🙂 You are so sweet! I was about to NOT post this because of the wardrobe malfunction but luckily I was able to get a some photos where you can't see the shirt all messed up: )
I really like this outfit. REALLY. I could totally see myself wearing it. And this is a reminder I need a bright yellow sweater and chambray shirt in my life. Old Navy's smallest size (XS) doesn't usually fit me. I can do some of their XS sweaters. And I don't fit in all of LOFT's XXSP and 00P either (forget the pants).
I'm a XXSP or ooP that can't even cheat a bit to fit in sizez XS and 0. I'm 5'3 (i.e. on the "taller" end of the Petite spectrum) and 90-93 pounds! (I think MY normal weight, even with the high metabolism and being naturally thin, should be higher. I weighed 100 pounds in college but since I started working in a fast pace environment about 5 years ago, my workaholic self got n in the bad habit of working through lunch sometimes. *sigh* But enough about my personal life).
Now how did you tuck your shirt in so well over the dress like that and had it stay in place? Please do show!
Great outfit! I've had my boobs pop out of my shirt becuase the the buttons came undone… 🙂
I like your mustard card too. It looks good with just about anything.

Regardless how much trouble you think you had with the tunic/skirt, I think the ensemble is wonderful. Once again you have pulled together a simply gorgeous look!

I really like the mustard and chambray combo. The last time I wore my mustard cardigan was probably about a year ago. Thanks for the reminder that I need to take it out and give it some sunlight :). The weather in Austin lately has been very sunny, but nothing close to the 80s! Hope the weather will be nice when I travel to CA in mid January.
I love this outfit! Great combination of pieces <3
You look so gorgeous it's not even funny! Hope your holidays were amazing. I had a nice Christmas and NYE and I am starting off my new year with a blog giveaway! Don't forget to stop by my blog prettyallthetime.blogspot.com and enter to win Viva La Juicy.
All the best Annie!!
So glad you finally found a mustard cardi…I know you've been wanting one for awhile!
i'm totally loving this, i really really need to get a chambray top!
I don't know how it looked in your head, but I think it looks fabulous!! My 3 absolute favorite things right now: mustard, chambray and stripes. How could you go wrong?? 🙂
Love love love!!! Stripes go great with yellow!
You take amazing pics for doing them all by yourself. 🙂
That's such a cute Spring outfit! Considering that it was 80 degrees in California today, it's still appropriate. Oh wardrobe malfunctions. Does having toilet paper sticking out of my pants after emerging from the restroom count?
LOVE this outfit, Annie! This mustard color does look fantastic on you! The belted shirt tucked in trick (yes, I figured out how you did it after staring at it for a while, lol) is amazing. Need to keep a mental note. Love, love, love your instagram photos.
nice outfit, but i thought you were going to wear your black booties with this! is there a reason why you chose to wear your br sandals instead?
No worries, we've all been through photoshoots only to find out photos are unusable before 🙁 It sucks, but I think many of yours turned out beautifully.
Another trick I like to use when wearing a shirt for the "tucked-in" effect is to leave a few of the last buttons undone, then sort of knot the ends until the shirt is tight across you, then finally tuck the ends under. It takes a few tries to hide the bump from the tied ends, but you wouldn't need to wear a belt. I do have to remember to glance down every once in awhile to see if either ends came undone, but it's usually easy to spot.
Love the Cardigan! Have you used a wide belt for the shirt to stay in place?
I still hope to find this cute cardigan at H&M! I have those shoes, its pretty high frm wht Im used to, will try and sell it.:)
cute outfit & Happy New Year 2012!

Really creative outfit. I like how you mixed colour with print and different fabrics.
So super cute – I was looking forward to this post! Love how you paired it with the booties and I would have never noticed your "wardrobe malfunction" lol.
I love the colour of the cardigan…but its not available anymore! 🙁
I know what you mean about wardrobe malfunctions…my sister takes my photos but never tells me when I have malfunctions (so frustrating!) and I end up only getting 1 or 2 good photos and 10-20 that are useless. I didn't know you did your own photography, I thought your husband was taking your photos! They're really good!
He's taken a few of my posts way back in the day when I first got my DSLR but now I take them all 🙂 You are luck your sister helps you! It is NOT easy taking photos by yourself. I am so lucky Vicky gifted me this sweater because my order got cancelled 🙁
Super cute! Really creative outfit!
