I had a credit voucher for F21 that I wanted to get rid of so I ordered these shorts  along with this bow trim pencil skirt and this polka dot skirt. Both of the skirts were gigantic and not even worth posting about. The size small was so wide and long, there was no hope for either.  I don’t know why I keep getting suckered in when the last several orders have been a total fail.

When I first slipped these shorts on, I was a bit over zealous and thought these could work since the belt conned me into thinking that they actually fit. Well after analyzing the fit, the waist is too big making the butt very saggy/bunchy and unattractive. And After taking these photos, I realized how baggy the crotch area is….*sigh*

*update- I added the photo’s below to show you the true fit*

I think I may try to shrink these since they are a linen and cotton blend but am afraid I am going to shrink them too much.  Has anyone had experience successfully shrinking linen?

I’m really particular about buying and wearing shorts.  They have to be a certain style for me to want to wear them.  I love the style and look plus the striped belt that is included is a bonus but the fit it’s just unfortunate that it’s just too big.  Hopefully I can successfully shrink them…
**Update: I was able to shrink these shorts successfully w/out making them too small or tight. I washed them in hot and fried them on high for one cycle. This method not only made the front fit better but the wrinkles went away. The butt is still a bit baggy but not nearly as bad as pre-shrinking.**
Does anyone have any tips on shrinking linen shorts?

  1. The outfit looks great on you regardless, Annie. But of course… a big part of looking great is in being comfortable; and if one isn't comfortable in his/her dress, one doesn't look or feel good. It is still a nice look for you. Hope you're able to alter this in a way to where you like the look more. You're still looking great regardless.

  2. From what I've read elsewhere, shrink in small time increments so you don't overshrink. Cute shoes! I love the outfit even if you say the shorts don't quite fit properly.

  3. Cant make out in the pics if the shorts are big on you or not. It does looks good on you. Frying in the dryer is not helping?

  4. Love this, Annie! Seeing you in shorts is very rare. : ) I don't think the shorts will shrink too much. Maybe just enough so that it would fit you.

  5. I just got my order from forever21, I ordered everything XS. Everything was too big. Is it just me, or are brands getting bigger again?

Can't wait to follow your blog, Annie. I just found it after my big disappointment.

  6. I actually love this outfit. Maybe is just the pictures, but I think the shorts are very cute in a slouchy kind of way. And since they are short shorts, I don't think you want them to be too tight. Love your blog!

  7. Annie, I think if you really like the belt, it's worth while keeping one pair to do the shrink exercise and return the 2nd pair. From the pictures, these shorts don't look too bad. They might not fit you like a glove, but they are doable. These shorts are meant to be casual anyways. Good luck, Annie. You look amazing as usual.

  8. Annie, I think it might behoove you to learn a little more about what "fit" means exactly. Something can "fit" without being skin tight on you. Perhaps you just like all your clothes to be very tight, too tight even. You might want to go back to reading Jean's blog (eventhough you say you don't read it) and try to take notes on how she shops for fit. You can do it Annie! I believe in you girl!

  9. Thanks Vicky. I just had time to add some close-up pics of the front and back fit on these shorts. I know what you mean about the shorts are meant to be casual and loose fitting but I'm curious to see what you say after seeing the see other pics:)

  10. You are right about it being too big. I can see the pull in the front. Another problem I found (and it's probably not a unique case for this pair) is that the back seems to wrinkle a lot. I hate wrinkles, that's why I don't like linen bottoms. I buy them because they are cute, but then I regret. lol. Usually people use cotton/linen blend to make the material less wrinkly, but in this case, it didn't seem to matter. Hope I'm not discouraging you too much to at least keep a pair.

  11. You have a look of disdain whenever you don't smile. The curling of your mouth affects your face, and it looks like you are looking down upon another, or just displeased.

  12. Lovely outfit! Do you sell the skirt from Forever 21? I've looking for a for a while but couldn't find it and it's sold out online.

  13. Lovely outfit. Do you sell the skirt from forever 21? I've looking for it a while now, but couldn't find it in stores and it's sold out online.

    Have a great weekend!

  14. Hi Annie. Great sunglasses! I am looking to get a pair of Chanel sunglasses like yours but there isn't a Chanel store where I live. I don't trust the authenticity of some online stores. Where did you get yours?

  15. Hi Annie,

I'm interested in getting the shoes (Ivanka Trump Brandyn Sandal) that you wear in this post, but it appears that size 4.5 is currently sold out at Nordstrom. I'm usually size 4.5. It's still available, though, in size 4 or 5. Can you please tell me if this particular style runs true to size? Or do you find it slightly too big or small? I don't think I'll fit into 4 or 5, but I thought it can't hurt to ask. 🙂

Thanks so much in advance for your help/time.

  16. Oops, I should've added in my previous comment that I'm only interested in the Canello (brown) color, not the black. And the size available that's closest to 4.5 is 4. They sold out on 5.

  17. Hi Jess! I would say they run a bit small IMO. I sold my 4.5's recently to a reader and ended up getting a 5 in the Canello brown. I am a true 4.5 and the 5's fit me perfectly. Hope this helps!

  18. if you manage to shrink them please let me a comment and telling me how you did it, because I am trying to shrink something and I don't know how…

    xoxo
