Restyled: Banana Republic Lena Sheath Dress and H&M Yellow Blazer

Blazer: H&M – size 2 (similar HERE and HERE)
Dress: Banana Republic – size 00P
Belt: Taken from H&M dress (similar HERE and HERE)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin – size 35 (buy HERE)
I posted this outfit on Twitter/Instagram and got such a good response, I was inspired to do an outfit post. It was over 100 degrees the day I took these and I was having a really bad hair day. The only way I could salvage it was to just pull it all back.

Necklace trio: c/o Laura for StellaDot (Arrow, Heart, Starry Night)

I love statement necklaces but sometimes a dainty piece can be a nice change of pace. You can mix it up and wear just the arrow and heart alone or all three necklaces as a trio. Thanks Laura – I love them!

I am obsessed with this blazer (see previous post HERE and HERE). I have worn it on the weekends and to work. It’s so cute! I’ve paired it with white skinnies and also with a crochet lace skirt for a casual look.  If you are interested in un-ruching the sleeves (seems to be fairly simple), see Cher’s results here.  It literally goes with everything and adds such a nice pop of color to an outfit. I went back to the store to grab another size 2 for a fellow petite and it’s completely sold out already!

Here’s my attempt at doing an awesome shoe shot {like Wendy’s Mystery man} with self photography but it clearly didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped. It is not easy trying to take shoe pictures with a tripod and remote.  I admire those bloggers that have a photographer to shoot pictures for them, especially on extremely hot days! I was sweating like crazy:)

Do you have an item in your closet that you just can’t get enough of and wear over and over?

  1. Love this blazer – I have a yellow one from Zara that is more of a boyfriend style and I wear it constantly…though not in this crazy NY heat!! πŸ™‚

  3. Hi Annie!
Love your outfit! It has been great gaining inspiration for original work outfits from your blog posts. Thanks! I had a quick question…I have been looking for Dark tan Simple 100s online for a while now as they are my fav style! Do you suggest just stalking various sites like barneys or saks for re-stocking? Or perhaps do a store locator order?

    • Thanks Christine. I think you should try both stalking Barney’s/Saks – they always restock and it wouldn’t hurt to call and do a store locater. I seem to have better luck stalking the sites:)

  6. Great outfit and the unexpected yellow of the blazer is really effective. As for an outfit I reach for again and again is a LBD from Banana Republic that is just a simple sheath and I can wear it all year around, either with a chic scarf, pearls, statement necklace, or just classic pearl studs and no necklace. It is a true workhorse!

  8. I am so jealous you can pull off the yellow blazer so well. You look gorgeous!

  10. Great outfit Annie! You know I can’t get enough of my Adrienne Vittadini wedges. I’m on the lookout for my go-to blazer and I had my Theory white blazer altered to 3/4 sleeves but I’m so afraid to stain it sweating like a heman in this hot weather.

This heat and humidity does funny things to my baby hair/fringe that I’m trying to grow out. I’ll have a GHD (good hair day) for all of 5 minutes and then no dice.

I think you do a really great job taking the photos all by yourself. I’m still lazy and only take iPhone pictures of my outfits. hehe Do you ask the hubby to take them for you every once in a while? My bf tried to take mine for me this morning but I always feel so awkward so I always end up selecting the ones I take myself (again from my iPhone).

    • LOL thanks Jess! I just realized that you are whatjesswore…DUH!

My hubby took a few posts from a long time ago- but that was a rare situ…he hasn’t since then because of work and our schedules. You would think it gets easier (taking photos of ourselves) but it doesn’t! And I hear ya about the baby hairs…mine are crazy! lol

      • OMG I just saw this reply… you’ll chuckle at my comment then. It’s okay because I laugh at myself all the time. Yes, I’m that random girl giggling for no apparent reason at any given moment. Every time my bf takes my picture I HATE it so my pictures, however amateur, are far superior to his! (FYI. I have Disqus too but no idea how to use it with my current blog theme even though I am rather “techy” in most people’s eyes… I think I’m just being lazy in this case. One day I’ll be bored and I’ll have an epiphany just like I did with Twitter… until then.)

  12. I adore the cut and shape of the dress, it conforms to your body beautifully. A yellow blazer does add a cheery vibe to it too. I think you did really good with self photography, it is really hard especially on shots you try to aim at certain angles. I want to have a professional photographer by my side..dream on!

  15. I love your style, It is very practical and put together for everyday looks. Now I want to see you style the other BR dress you bought, the tweed one similar to this one.

  17. Looking great with the hair pulled back! The sheath and yellow are fab! Great shoe shot! You're a great self photographer!

  19. Your forehead is a little too prominent for this updo. You need to do a poof and tease your hair a bit at the crown prior to putting the hair up. Also consider doing the hairstyle using the rolled up sock method. The bun will look fuller and better.
