Review: Cache Paisley Chain Print Dress

CacheDress1.jpg
I have a couple of dresses from Cache but it’s been quite a long time since I’ve been in the store. Their prices are much higher than I would prefer so I’ve stayed away for awhile.  After my failed ASOS scarf print dress earlier this year (see here), I have been looking for a replacement dress. I was thrilled when my eyes saw this pretty print that had the same vibrant colors as the ASOS dress but the big difference was the quality and that it’s work appropriate. The ASOS dress was skin tight, short and paper thin/see through – a total fail. I was even more excited when I tried this on and it ran super small (see fitting room photo here).
Cache does not offer petite sizing but the two dresses I do own run really small. They used to carry size P (petite) but I haven’t seen this lately. See my oldie posts here and here with my coral Cache dress in size P.

Size/Measurements: Shoulder to shoulder = 13.5″, armpit to armpit = 14″, waist is 11″, total length = 35″.  I am wearing an XS. It fits me perfectly.
The only complaint I have is that it’s a v-neck and I will have to wear a cami underneath. I’m thinking about even sewing a little stitch to keep it closed and make it more conservative for work.  This dress has a faux wrap and usually if this is the case, the fit is usually hit or miss. Luckily, the waist is small enough so you don’t have to pull the wrap super tight (like you do with some wrap dresses) to make it fit (hopefully that makes sense).  I love the length of the dress. It hits right in the middle of my knee caps which is a great length for work.

Material: 94% Polyester and 6% spandex. Machine washable. The dress is partially lined on the bottom which is a huge plus.
Quality: From what I can tell, the quality is much better than the typical H&M and ASOS. I would say it’s comparable to Ann Taylor quality. I’ve had my other Cache dresses from years ago and both have held up really well.
Return Policy: In case you have never shopped here before, the return policy isn’t the greatest.  You have only 14 days to return items for a full refund. I definitely don’t like this. It would be nice if they offered the standard 30 days. I like to think things over before deciding if I will keep it.
CacheDress4.jpg
Price: Regular price is $138 – on sale for $79. $138 for a polyester dress is insane. Even at the sales price of $79 is way too much. I think it’s worth around $40.
Verdict: I really want to keep it but am having trouble with the price…..$79 is a bit steep for a polyester dress. I can see myself wearing this with a white, black or even yellow blazer for work. It’s different than my other dresses and adds some new flavor to my wardrobe so I am leaning towards keeping.

Other dresses that caught my eye but didn’t have time to try on were: (I’ll have to go back when I have more time but am in love w/the blue and jade dresses.)

Here are some tops that have potential: (I am waiting for the tweed fringe jacket to go on sale)

They had tons of cute accessories but had no time to really look. I did have a chance to try on the gold cuff at the register which runs extra small but is still pricey. The double stone earrings below are on sale for only $11.20 + free shipping.

Get free shipping site wide until Monday, 7/30 (no code needed) and XS is still available online!
What are your thoughts on this dress? Have you shopped here before?

    • It’s more that I think $79 isn’t worth it for a polyester dress. I think material is important when considering any purchases. Even tho I love Chanel, I still try to save money elsewhere 🙂

  3. Really like that dress on you. You look great in that shade of yellow.

I love the jacket pictured above, as well as the dress with the 3/4 sleeves.

  5. OMG, you HAVE to keep this! I think it looks amazing on you! Yeah $79 is pricey for the material, but if it looks that good then why not keep it.

  7. Beautiful print! And I find that the faux wrap is more comfortable than the real one since you don’t have to worry about adjusting the shape (especially after a big meal). 😉

  9. Hi Annie,
I’ve never heard of Cache before! You look great in the dress (as you always do in everything!) but I agree that the price is too high for a polyester dress. I place a lot of importance on the fabric as well.

The blue dress is gorgeous. Do you have a link?

The Ann Taylor pump under your “Coveting” sidebar caught my eye! I love it. Do you own any Ann Taylor suede pumps?

  12. It looks great on you. I agree that $79 is expensive for a polyester dress, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything that ‘cheap’ at Cache before. I think you have to decide based on just how much you love it!
I love the accessories you showed, but I’ll have to stay away…if I can, haha.

  14. I have shopped at Cache but quite a while ago… I think I stopped shopping there because of the restrictive return policy and also the rising prices for clothing I can find elsewhere for half the price. So although the dress looks really pretty on and the print is gorgeous it does not merit the price for polyester fibers. I think I saw something similar but on a blue base with chain print at TJMaxx for $20.

  16. Very cute but how often will you actually wear it? Thats the question I ask myself before making a purchase.

  18. Great print and great fit! Sorry about the price. Maybe it’ll go on sale. But then you might think “what if my size is gone then?” If you’d be sad, then keep it now. If it wouldn’t matter, then wait 🙂

  22. I love cache’s dresses and their quality is quite wonderful to me. They are great for the non-clubbing woman, who always wants to look sexy and sophisticated at the same time. I am ordering the jade green one right now, and just purchased 2 others today. This is 4months later, but I hope you caught the 70% off sale. I got 2 dresses for $80

  24. Appreciation to my father who told me regarding this blog,
    this blog is genuinely amazing.

  25. I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the layout of your blog?

Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.
Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or two images.
Maybe you could space it out better?

  26. Hey, I think your blog might be having browser compatibility issues.
When I look at your blog in Chrome, it looks fine but when opening
in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up!
    Other then that, great blog!

I met her yrs ago through a mutual friend. We actually hooked up back when we were just a few years out of college, Maybe 3ish rice? We met and honestly click pretty much together as we both pretty extroverted. skip forward to today, I hadn talked to her for about 2 years until 2 weeks ago and we talk everyday and have hung out twice since, Once with a bit of friends and once just us, We made dinner out of a recipe book together actually and just talked the actual evening. phoning avoid going there again, But if you must immediately don stay until close. Have a couple drinks and then head out. a minimum of pretend you aren needy and clingy.

She straight up told russian girl you to ask her out on a real date so I not sure what you so confused about. Ask her to frequent literally any place that isn where she works and go from there. When she working, Let her work out.

acceptable, what now? I had my reservations about this whole thing because I do realize it her work. I spent many years at a manager position so I like to think I know where the border lies. The few times I been there with the intention doing, I made sure to let her do her job and not bother her but reading the so far I do believe I probably over done it just by going there so often. How do I go an additional direction and “deal” this is what? Do I just wait for her to message me when she’d like to go out? 2 points supplied 10 hours ago

Well this is an excellent lesson for not waiting to ask a girl out. if you her, Ask her out on a date. Otherwise you might waste your time, effort “relationship” Her only to appreciate she doesn want to date you.
