Every year I visit my family, my sister takes off work to spend time with me and we shop until we drop. She and I have very similar work styles but when it comes to casual clothes, we are total opposites. She loves Free People, Anthropologie and premium denim. We were scouring the sales racks at Macy’s for her and she forced me to try on these AG jeans. I told her there is no way I will pay that much for a pair of jeans. She said they are by far her favorite brand and will wear nothing else. She also warned me that not all AG jeans are petite friendly. The other style that she would recommend for petite ladies are The Angelina petite’s. I also tried on a second pair of skinnies at Macy’s in size 24. I believe they were called the AG legging jeans. They fit perfectly but were still full price at $150 so I passed. I’ll be waiting for a sale if I ever see them again.
I have never understood what the hype was about premium denim and now I finally get it. As soon as I put these cigerette skinnies on, I fell in love. I don’t even know how to describe how amazing these are! They are so comfortable and the fit is so right in every area.
If you have been a long time reader, you know I am not a fan of jeans. The only pairs I like are my Gap jeggings and my Old Navy rock stars.
Both my sister and I were shocked to find out my jeans were the ONLY ones on sale plus we had an additional $25 off coupon. Apparently AG jeans rarely go on clearance so after a coupon and the marked down price, I paid $68 for them. It was hard for me to swallow the price at first but after bringing them home and wearing them out to dinner, I realized that it is worth it.
Here are some details: – tailored in super soft stretchy 10 oz. denim – stilt cut in optic white features tonal stitching and nickel hardware – low rise, approx. 7 1/4″ – fitted through skinny legs – cropped, rolled above ankle, approx. 26″ inseam
The only downside to these jeans is that the rolled part does not un-cuff and cannot be worn longer. I wish it were the case but it’s meant to be worn rolled. I’ll keep my new Old Navy rock star jeans for when I feel like wearing white skinnies longer with no cuff. FYI- I ordered the new and improved rock star jeans (in sea salt) this year in 0 short and 0 petite and the 0 petite fit me perfectly. The 0 short was okay but the crotch area was baggy. The material is a thinner and stretchier material than last year’s.
The size 24’s fit me nicely with a tiny waist gap in the back. The crotch, butt and thighs hug me nicely w/out being tight or uncomfortable. The denim material is so amazing, I can’t even describe it. Have you tried AG jeans before? What is your favorite brand of premium denim?
I searched high and low for white jeans that weren’t too tight but also weren’t too baggy. I finally found a pair of AG’s that worked perfectly. They may possibly be the most expensive article of clothing I’ve ever bought. But sometimes you just can’t pass on something that fits so well.

I’ve never tried AG, but my all time fave is Paige. It’s a rare occasion for me to go back to non-HE denim. I tried the ON Rockstars…several pairs and I wanted to like them so badly but I can’t get past the fit. And the sizing is incredibly inconsistent. Of all the ones I’ve tried so far, I can fit anywhere between a 0R and 4P. Weird. They’re all going back, I can’t handle the thought of even paying $20 for a pair of denim that doesn’t fit as amazing as my other denim. I’d rather save my money and put it towards a designer that I’ve stalked for a deep discount.
That’s a bummer about the ON jeans! I bought the new version too and I liked it better than last year. Weird! The 0P fits me so much nicer than the the regular and petite jeans from last year. I’ve tried Paige before and they didn’t work out for me. Now I understand what the deal is with premium denim….I love AG jeans!
Really?? I’m extremely surprised. Which Paige style did you try? The only other person I’ve ever met that didn’t like Paige is my friend and she is extremely curvy. Paige denim is known not to flatter curvy body types as well as “not-as-curvy” types.
I don’t remember- it was back in 2010 when I first tried on a pair and they were all so long and just looked weird on me. Maybe because I have super short legs? You and Kelly have long and slim legs so the Paige looks so good on both of you:)

After this post, I might try on premium denim so I can experience your joy! Hehe. May not buy though since I don’t like to pay more than $30 for jeans currently. $68 aint bad tho!

Even though new brands have become popular, I tend to stick with 7 for All Mankind and Citizens for Humanity. I love them for the fact that I know which size to order and that they’ll be flattering.
I tend to scour for deals at outlets and online (like yoox.com, ruelala.com, etc.) and try not to spend more than $50 a pair as I’ll likely be tailoring them. I’ve found petites rarely go on sale and I’m allowed to wear jeans to work, so having multiple pairs of jeans at $150+ isn’t really in the budget. I do think premium jeans are worth it in regards to comfort and fit.
Also, another trick I use is 7FAM offers kids’ sizes, which tend not to require hemming and are cheaper, especially if you can find them at an outlet. The quality of the denim is not identical to the adult sizes, but is up there and for my body type, the fit is spot on for me. I wear bootcuts typically and the knee hits at my knee instead of lower as many regular jeans do. It’s about fifty-fifty for finding pairs without juvenile embellishments.
I’ve also bought Diesel, Raleigh Denim, D&G, Siwy, Genetic, Rich & Skinny, Rock & Republic Kids before they moved to Kohl’s, Juicy Couture Kids, Washborn, and a few others. Diesel is nice because on many pairs they offer a 30 inch inseam which works well for me and I’ve found they come up frequently on deal sites for under $100. I love my Siwy’s for the details and comfort; however, they run very large, so size down a size or two if ordering. Same thing with Rich & Skinny. For both, I bought my normal size and can get on and off without unbuttoning.

I found these jeans on sale a few months ago in a dark denim wash. I brought them to my tailor and they undid the cuff and finished the bottoms. It was about $15 and now I can wear them either way. I’m 5’1″ and they hit just at the ankle unrolled.

I have always been a fan of designer jeans! I used to splurge on them during my freshman and sophomore year of college but stopped by junior year since I had internships and business attire was obviously required. My favorite brands are Genetic Denim and George Dylan. Based on my experiences, sizes run smaller than typical denim jeans which is good for petites 🙂 but I always have to get the length hemmed.

I also never really got the premium denim thing, until I was gifted a couple of pairs and both of them I could easily pinpoint what made them better quality, but like you still find it hard to spend that much on a pair of jeans.
I’m glad you found that AG pair that turned out to be perfect for you. I wish I had a sister to go shopping with until we both drop. lol

I have to veto this top. It looks cheap and poorly made, and it does your figure no favors. It hits you in the wrong spots; you look short waisted, round, and all boob.
love the top! cute outfit!
