Happy April 1st! I’ve been anxiously waiting to post this outfit because it’s one of my favorites! White jeans, mint, polka dots with a cropped trench coat is my ideal Spring outfit. I posted a sneak peek on Instagram a couple weeks ago so make sure to follow me there!
I’m loving this cropped trench so much! It’s simple, classic and very affordable. Every now and then, Forever 21 comes out with a great item and this is one of them plus it’s petite friendly! As much as I love my Ann Taylor cropped trench from last Fall (see HERE and HERE), it was always missing a couple key elements that I wanted. Whether it’s cropped or not, a classic trench coat is a must have. In case you’re in the market for one, here are some great options for you to choose from:

The color of this Forever 21 cropped trench coat is just the right shade (not too light or dark). It has all the traditional elements that I like: shoulder epaulets, belted cuffs and back venting. Unfortunately, it’s partially lined (only the sleeves) but what do you expect for the price? The material is a cotton and polyester blend. It definitely needs a good steaming when you first get it (very wrinkly). The best part is, it has functional pockets! Yay! They are sewn shut so be sure to free them.
Measurements for size small: shoulder to shoulder 15″, armpit to armpit 19″, sleeves 19″, sleeve width 5.5″, total length 21″
The fit of the coat is boxy but doable. The upside is that it leaves you a lot of room to layer. One of the biggest issues I have when it comes to coats are the sleeves. They are so expensive to tailor and I prefer not to spend money altering F21 pieces. I have short arms so I was thrilled when the sleeves actually fit! If you have longer arms, the sleeves will be 3/4″ long. To combat the wide sleeves, I adjusted the buckle to the last hole. See it on What Jess Wore.
Mint and polka dots is one of my favorite combinations. This J.Crew dot popover shirt is several years old and the most similar top I could find is this one HERE. Now let’s talk about this purse! This Loeffler Randall rider bag was a recent purchase from Shopbop during their big event sale. I love the structured design and the color is exactly what I’ve been looking for. The leather is buttery soft and the size fits all of my essentials. You can buy it HERE. I’ve also rounded up some other neutral handbags for you to consider:

These Paige Denim crop white jeans were a recent score at Nordstrom Rack. I can’t believe I found them in my size for half the price of retail. Woo hoo! I know I’ve said this a million times but white jeans are a must! Here are some options for you:

I adore this outfit Annie! It’s so perfect for spring with the polka dots and mint collared shirt. Best of all, I love that this F21 trench worked out for the both of us. <3
P.S. There should be an instagram account for 'ihavethisthingwithwalls'. π That tile backdrop is on point.
Thanks Jess! I appreciate the recommendation! Lol about the IG wall account. π
It exists (just checked) but no one is actively managing it. haha
Love the mint for spring!

This is why I love reading fashion blogs: because I probably wouldn’t have put mint & navy polka dots together off the top of my head. Makes me want to add a polka dot blouse to my wardrobe. Thanks for the inspiration. ^_^

Hi Anne. I been follow your blog and instagram for little over the year now. And this has been awesome. I have lot of inspiration from your blog. This is a great outfit.I have a favor to asked Anne. I will go to my BF’s grauduated graduation this coming May. It will be in Pittsbugh, PA, so it will be hot. I am hoping you can give me some dress ideas to be appropriate for this event. I am looking for something young, playful, chic but still formal enough for the event, (his family will be there too). Thank you in advance for helping me with this.
I love this outfit. It’s so nice.
