One of the biggest challenges being petite (5″ tall) is finding the right length. Whether it’s jeans, dresses or skirts, it’s always been difficult. We’re built differently, require shorter hems and not all petites are not the same. Finding the perfect maxi skirt has always been one of the hardest things for me.
A misconception that people have is that petite women can’t wear maxi skirts. I can see why some would come to this conclusion but in my opinion, it’s quite the opposite. I think longer hems can elongate a petite figure. The toughest part about maxi skirts is making sure it’s the right length. Too short can result in an awkward length and too long will drag on the floor. So how do you figure out what the perfect length is? The best way is to try on the skirt with shoes you plan on wearing them with.
Personally, I like my maxi skirt or dresses to just graze the floor when wearing flats. I paired this maxi skirt with my trusty nude sandals that have a 3.5″ heel. The extra height made the skirt the perfect length for someone my height. If you’re shorter than I am, this skirt may be too long unless you wear super tall wedges. 🙂

Beautiful skirt…I love how it twirls! I also agree that maxi skirts can be elongating if you get the right length. Old Navy has a bunch right now that are also in petite. I just ordered one 🙂

I am also 5″ tall. I used to envy tall girls who look so fabulous wearing a maxi skirt which seems like it was perfectly made for them. Every time i go shopping
I would try some maxi skirts but most of the time they are too long for me..I have also thought before that petite can’t pull off a maxi dress/ skirts. But this looks really nice on you.. Hope to find something right for me for the summer!
