365 days. One year old. My beautiful baby girl turned one recently and I’m still processing it. I can’t even believe I’m typing this because it seems surreal. This time last year she had just made her grand entrance into this world and completely changed my life forever. How lucky am I that I get to be her mommy? I feel so blessed that God sent her to me after my horrific miscarriage when I had lost all hope. There are so many emotions I’m feeling so it’s quite challenging for me to convey them into words and put it all into one blog post. I know most of you follow along for outfits and fashion ideas but I wanted to document this special celebration and share it with you as well!
I had all of these extravagant plans in my head and started to stress out when everything was delayed due to the holidays. Clearly I didn’t factor this in when planning. I had two dresses I wanted to put her in and neither arrived on time.
I didn’t even know smashing a cake was a thing until I started looking for one year birthday inspiration. I needed one cake for her to enjoy and eat during photo time so of course I baked her an organic cake from scratch. Due to her eczema, we have been very careful with certain foods as we are still trying to identify potential sensitivities. Rather than guess what’s in a store bought cake, we felt more comfortable preparing one ourselves Appearance wise, the cake was a total fail (nailed it!) because I was over zealous with the beet juice I used to make pink food coloring so my frosting was a little too runny. Surprisingly to all, it tasted delicious (even better than the custom cake) but just didn’t look very pretty. I promise you I really can bake and my hubby will back me on that! LOL

Floral tutu dress (6-12 months)
LOL this photo kills me! She was so exhausted from all the fun and new things to look at. 🙂
I had to cover up Milan’s arms and legs to prevent her from scratching. Anyone who’s dealt with eczema knows that for some reason, as soon as air hits the skin, the itch begins! Poor baby girl, I didn’t want her to have so many layers on. 🙁

All in all, did it turn out the way I had planned? No. Does it matter? Not at all. As long as she’s healthy, happy and had fun, that’s all that matters to me. Gosh, I love her to much that it hurts! I had no idea a love like this even existed. She truly is my everything! 🙂
As always, thanks for reading and if you are in need of an organic cake recipe, just let me know and I’ll send it your way!
