Review: Surplice Romper, Striped Leggings and Pink Jack Purcell Sneakers

I’m a little behind on my posts this week so today I’m reviewing this cute little romper, matching converse sneakers and these striped capri leggings!

Surplice romper (size XS) | c/o Vince Camuto leddy espadrille sandals | c/o Tuckernuck packable bow hat | c/o kate spade krystalyn sunglasses | Mar y sol woven tote

I’ve never been a romper type of gal because they have always looked so silly on me.  I’m not sure what the deal is but nothing has looked even half way decent.  I ordered this out of curiosity and didn’t think it would work out however I love it!  Sizing runs small so I’d recommend sizing up if you are unsure.  I got XS and it fits similar to a 00 petite.  I only had a few minutes to try it on but from what I could tell, it’s super cute!  The material feels very thin but it’s not see-through.  Very light and airy for summer.  It’s under $50 plus free shipping – you can’t beat that!  P.S – these Vince Camuto leddy espadrille sandals are on sale (last seen HERE)!

c/o Flamingo dress (size XS) | Ferragamo vara pumps | JADEtribe pom pom small basket

If you love flamingos, this dress is a must have!  It’s under $50 and adorable.  See it previously worn HERE.

J.Crew x New Balance striped capri leggings (XS) | J.Crew tee (old, similar HERE) | J.Crew x New Balance pink sneakers

I posted about my little athleisure haul awhile back and just got around to posting these striped capri leggings.  I love the length – perfect for petite gals.  Sizing runs small so be sure to size up if you are in-between sizes.  I’m wearing XS and it fits comfortably.  I also tried these scalloped capri leggings and they were so tight and the material has no stretch.  These striped leggings are way better and also hide imperfections. FYI – they are currently on sale!  Would recommend.

Converse Jack Purcell sneakers (size 5, pink vapor) | Topshop moto Jamie petite jeans (size 24×28) | NuLOOM Rug
Milan’s outfit: Gap jeans | c/o Wheat Kids Clothing bodysuit (similar HERE) | Pink Chuck Taylor sneakers

Honestly, I’ve never been a fan of Converse shoes.  They aren’t really my style but how do I pass up a chance to match with Milan? Hehe I couldn’t resist the light pink color – I’ve never seen this shade before.  I ordered both just to see what they would look like and surprisingly enough, I ended up really liking them!  I haven’t officially worn them out of the house yet so I can’t really say how comfortable they are but will report back when I do.  Sizing seems to run true to size.  I took my normal size 5 and without socks, they were a little loose but I’m sure with socks, they will fit nicely.  I wanted the all star dainty low top sneaker but they were sold out in my size so maybe it was meant to be that I got these instead (lol)?  The baby/walker Chuck Taylor’s are currently on sale in case you have a mini me to buy for. 🙂

Floral print wrap dress (size XS) | Marc Fisher wedge sandals

I was really looking forward to getting this dress and it finally arrived!  It’s super cute however the material is very thin and slightly see-through.  Sizing runs true to size and I’m trying on XS.  It’s petite friendly and the length is just right.  The floral print is very pretty and the affordable price is a plus.  I like it but don’t love it so I’m not sure if I’ll keep it or not.

XO, Annie

  1. Were you able to get the pink striped capri leggings? I see the New Balance website still has them in stock in all sizes. Full price though :/

    • Oh! I haven’t been able to score the pink striped leggings and don’t want to pay full price. Thank you for letting me know that they are still on the NB site! Will stalk it in case it goes on sale LOL

  2. My jack purcell’s are so much comfier than my converse. Good call!

  3. I just ordered the JCrew capris. I don’t normally buy J Crew unless the deal is good and there is free shipping (met both criteria this time)– thanks for posting! Also, keep featuring more casual outfits. Your dressier posts are always nice, but I’ve been appreciating your lounge-y and casual stuff lately.

    • Hahaha I’m the same way. Good deal and free shipping is a MUST! Thank you for the feedback on the casual outfits – I definitely will try to do more 🙂

  4. Even in the “Really Petite” days of this blog, I never recalled you wearing any sneakers in your outfits. Maybe something lace-up, but never sneakers. And I never really cared about Converses myself. I am not a sneakers fanatic much at all. With the other outfits… the romper/playsuit with the wedge sandals is lovely. Same goes for the flamingo dress. Not really into the sandals to the floral wrap dress, but the dress looks very nice. So my favorites would be the romper outfit and the flamingo outfit.

Just goes to show you how long and how loyal I’ve been to this blog, eh? 🙂

  5. yes this is old – sorry. just want to make a comment that I purchased the medium workout top/bra in blush pink and it is awful. so tight can’t adjust. straps cut into my neck so bad. I weigh 134 and I’m 5’3″. oh well. the capri leggings? the waist in medium (i used size guide to my dismay) In pink is so big they slide down. I mean I havent left the house yet. Could not get the strangling bra off quick enuff! Began to perspire and I almost had to use scissors!
They look cute if you are standing in one spot. Not for working out at all. At least what I paid too much money for. The shoes are ok. Don’t get a scuff, dust, etc. 🙂
