Postpartum Update + Meadow Ivy’s Newborn Photos

I can’t believe it’s been almost a month since I gave birth to Meadow Ivy.  Time is already going by so fast!

I’ve dreamt of having newborn photos done since I had Milan. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to anything like this with her so I knew that this was something I had to do for Meadow Ivy.  These photos just melt my heart and is everything I’ve ever wanted and more.

I honestly don’t know how Meadow Ivy is already almost a month old.  These newborn photos were taken when she was only 12 days young.  She’s already changed so much since then!

I had no idea what life would be like with two kids but honestly, I feel so grateful for Mr. Right.  He makes it so easy for me.  As hard as this pandemic is, there are a lot positives for our family.  It means that he doesn’t have to travel for work and can be home with us.  We are very fortunate that he is able to work from home and help me take care of Milan and Meadow.

I didn’t think an “easy baby” even existed but Meadow Ivy is seriously amazing.  She’s super calm and not fussy at all.  She eats and sleeps like a champ!  I don’t know how long this phase will last but I will soak it up while I can.  After everything she went through in the NICU, I just want to enjoy every second with her.  You can read her birth story HERE.

My whole pregnancy and postpartum experience this time around is so different.  It’s literally night and day.  I never in a million years thought I would be able to have the chance of having a second baby.  I get so teary eyed when I think about this.  I’m so much calmer and happier now.  I have a wonderful man who is loving, supportive and does everything he can to make my life easier.  I would be a hot mess if it wasn’t for him.

As amazing as the newborn stage is, it is beyond exhausting.  I nurse every 2-3 hours around the clock.  Sometimes I get to sleep and sometimes I don’t but honestly I wouldn’t change it for the world.  No matter how tired I am, I’m trying to truly enjoy it because they do grow up so fast.  I love breastfeeding and will do it for as long as I can.  I breastfed Milan until she was 2.5 years old.

This is one of my favorite photos EVER.  He is an amazing daddy.  I love how patient and calm he is with both Milan and Meadow Ivy.  I feel so lucky to have met such a wonderful man.  I didn’t think men like this existed but I’m living proof that nice men are still out there.

Seeing Milan hold her baby sister literally makes my heart melt.  She was such a good girl during this photoshoot.  I wasn’t sure how everything was going to go down because you never know what’s going to happen with a 4 year old.  She surprised me and was SO GOOD.

It’s crazy to see how big Milan has gotten and how much older she seems now.  I still have videos of Milan saying she wants a baby sister and to be able to give this to her is a dream come true.  She is so gentle with Meadow Ivy.  It’s precious to witness.  They both will have a best friend for life.

FAMILY.  My little family.  This is all I’ve ever wanted.  To be a family.  To feel like a family.  To love.  To be loved.  To have a home filled with love.  To give Milan a better life.  To give her a sibling.  To be in a healthy relationship and teach our kids what love looks like and feels like.
