Lookbook: Tweed, Scarves and Black Skinny Jeans

Could this be the first? Two jegging posts in one week? Who am I? Well I was so excited to get my GAP legging jeans in true black wash that I had to bust it out and put together an outfit for this weekend.

Top: LOFT Draped Bow Shell– size XXSP (buy here)
Jacket: Theory “Lecture” Gratian Blazer – size 0
Jeans: GAP Legging Jeans– size 00p (buy here)
Scarf: LOFT scarf (buy here)
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Pumps- size 35/5 (buy here)
Purse: Chanel Medium Flap Classic

I have always been envious of the LOFT models for how they style their scarves. So I went on a scarf binge and bought 7 of them- am I nuts? LOL I think it must be my OCD kicking in, once I like something, I want every color!

I have never been a “scarf” person but for some reason I am loving them this season! They add so much character to an outfit. I use it more as an accessory rather than to actually keep warm…but if I am shopping outdoors at night, it sure feels cozy!
Clearly my fly aways and hair is going thru shock since I just got a hair cut and it looks like I stuck my finger in a light socket….sorry about the crazy hair!
I didn’t really like this LOFT draped bow shell until I tried it on. It wasn’t the greatest deal- was $49, on sale for $29.99 plus 30% off = $20. The bottom portion of the top is quite big and wide but if worn under a blazer or cardigan, I think I should be okay.
Surprisingly tucked in, it doesn’t look too bad. But I don’t think I would wear it w/out something over it.
Here is to show you the back of the black leggings…it’s very strange but the fit is actually a bit looser than my dark faded wash…hum…maybe I need to nuke it in the dryer. And I think the inseam is a bit longer- what the heck? I’ll have to lay them flat on top of each other to compare.
You can totally change the look of the scarf just by the way you tie it. The way I am wearing it hear, I had to fold it several times until it was short enough to just do one loop.
Shop this look:

Tweed Cropped Jacket (comes in XS)
Ann Taylor Black Bow Pumps (size 5 still avail)
I love this Theory tweed blazer because I can wear as a jacket for outfits like this. That way I get more use out of my blazers!  I definitely have gotten use out of these pumps, I think they appear in almost every post!
Ah..my Chanel baby…
Here is up close so you can see the print of the scarf. It has all my favorite colors, shades of pink and gray…(not sure what I was doing with my hand here)
Just in case you are wondering, the sleeves on this Theory Tweed Jacket has been tailored.
I swear these Gap leggings are longer..do you see all that extra scrunching?
I can’t decide if I like the jacket closed or open…what do you think?
I wonder if I can get away with wearing these to work? If I dress it up enough, will they still look like jeans? I have a very strict dress code for my staff so I definitely don’t want to show up in jeans and then have people question why I don’t allow jeans…LOL
Please let me know your thoughts!

  1. They seem a little longer than your other ones but not bad at all. If I don't have a closet full of jeans, I would order them. They look super nice on you. I usually don't have problems finding jeans that fit. I saw that top in store too but it definitely looks cuter on stock model. I love the color tho. I like the jacket unbuttoned. BTW, nice haircut!

  2. Gorgeous!

I agree with you about scarves…never been one to use them in the past, but I want to get my hands on them this winter!

I have that same top, but the speckled grey one. It reminds me of a sailor top…love it!

Hmm…I am usually a jacket/cardigan open kind of girl. Either look find!

  3. I love the outfit! What lipgloss are you wearing? I love it! By the way, your wedding ring is HUUGE! Hehehe! I love it! 🙂

  4. I think you and Gap jeggings/jeans are meant to be lol! They fit you so well, a bit long, but just tuck the hem under a bit (I do that and think it looks fine). The print of this scarf is really pretty, I'm liking the pink/gray/white shades. Great outfit!

  5. Oh my, you look so cute. Love the pop of fuschia! I love scarves! They always add a little something to every outfit! Have I ever mentioned I am so jealous of your Louboutins and Chanel purse! I think you should keep the jacket open because that extra string looks kind of awkward. These are technically jeggings so you should be able to wear them to work. ; )

  6. the black jeans are a bit bigger than the blue ones but not by much. they look great with the blouse and tweed jacket and i think this would be ok to wear to work on a friday. and that chanel bag is to-die-for!!

  7. @April Thanks April! I am wearing Wet n Wild lipgloss- I know how funny but it's the only lipgloss I like and its cheap!

Thank you for the compliment about my wedding ring..it's my pride and joy:)

  8. Ooh interested to see the rest of your scarves now 🙂 I think I like the blazer buttoned – it gives it that flattering "X" shape that AN posted about.

I personally would wear the jeggings to work but my work environment is business casual with casual Fridays.

  9. Great outfit! Gorgeous scarf. Love the scarves loft has for this season too. I like how you put together the colors. If you have longer top covers the waist area of the jeans, I assume it should be fine. YOu are one cute boss! 🙂

  10. Love this outfit. I am not the one to decide whether the outfit is appropriate for work or not, because I am very lax on that front. 🙂 It's a shame though if you won't allow this outfit at work. You look so polished and chic. I hope you keep the black jegging even though it's a bit big now. So far this is the best fitted black pants I could find out there. I'm hoping it'll shrink in the dryer just like my Loft jegging. I washed my Loft pair about 8 times already and I like it more and more. 🙂

  11. Great review, I likely like this outfit and the gap jeggings look fantastic on you.
I tried various "jeggins" by dufferent makes incl. a very nice model by Levi's (which costs about the same as the Gap ones) but because I'm more curvy, all these pants typically would gape at the waist and cause sagging in the butt area. For reference, I am 5.2" and my measurements are 33.5-24-33, but my higher hip (right around the hip bone) measures just 29". So I have a large size difference between high hip and lower hip, which makes it hard for me to find jean or pants right of the rack that don't gap at the waistband.
For all those petite ladies out there that are like me a little more curvy and have similar fit problems with pants or jean, I can now highly recommend you to try the new "Curve ID" line by Levi's. I got measured at a Levi's store and turned out to be a "bold curve". Based on this, I tried on (and bought) a pair of skinny jeans in size 24 in "bold curve". The fit is just so amazing! I have never had a pair of jean that fit so well in the butt and waist. For the first time ever I see absolutely no gap whatsoever at the waist band. The jean are in fact so tight around the higher hip that I really have to squeeze myself in, which normally never happens to me. 🙂
Anyhow, I just wanted to spread the news on Levi's curve ID. 24 is the smallest size, but in "bold curve' the waist is really tiny. If your measurements are close to mine they should fit you well, too. According to the size chart, size 24 in Levi's "Curve ID" indicates a lower hip circumference of approximately 34". So, unfortunately, someone with a much smaller hip will probably find size overall 24 too big. But if your hip measurement is similar to mine and you just have a bigger high hip or bigger waist, you will probably be fine with Levi's "demi curve' or "slight curve". Price-wise, Levi's reatail at about the same price as Loft or Gap jean, so not too expensive.
Please, don't think I am doing advertisement for Levi's here. I am just one of those very small petite girls that have a hard time finding jean that fit well and I found that all the recommendations by other tiny petites in the blogging community on Gap and Loft jeggins unfortunately just didn't work for me because of my curves.
