Review: Salvatore Ferragamo Nocciola Meditteraneo Reversible Leather Belt

I pinned this exact belt here 5 months ago and have been patiently hoping to find it. Ferragamo stores were completely sold out and I had almost given up hope.  I was elated when I found it still available at Saks!

See my previous post from November here with a different Ferragamo belt.  That belt was great to wear with jeans but too thick to wear with dresses.  I mentioned in my post that I really wanted this belt but it was an older model from 2012 and was very difficult to find.  My patience has paid off and I love my new belt.  It’s a great replacement for my H&M belt that has now fallen apart.
I was rather disappointed when receiving my package from Saks because it didn’t come with a red box – just a small buckle pouch and a larger belt pouch inside a plain brown box.  At this price point, you would think it would at least come in a Ferragamo box for your belt.  I’m a sucker for pretty boxes and bags so I was a bit annoyed.

I was a bit confused at the sizing from Saks because typically Ferragamo belts come in size 100 cm.  Saks carries it in small, med, large and x-large.  Since the buckle is removable, you can choose to have it cut to fit you perfectly without punching extra holes.You can bring your belt to any Ferragamo store and have it cut/sized (holes punched) for free.  I even got a free Ferragamo red box and bag when they sized it for me – no questions asked as to where I got my belt. Yippee!

I opted to have the belt cut albeit losing a nice chunk of Italian leather verses getting holes punched. Since I wear mostly dresses and skirts to work, I opted to cut this belt to be worn on my high and natural waist.  I didn’t want too much excess strap at the end even though there are belt loops in both colors (black and brown) to hold it in place.

I purchased it in a size small and had it cut 4″ (originally 32″) to fit my waist.  It measures 28″ from end to end (excluding the buckle).  As a reference, I have about a 23-23.5″ waist (depending if I have a good meal).   If you are a bit larger than me, you could probably get away w/out cutting the belt (size 32″) and punching an extra hole or two.  The only downside to cutting it to fit your high/natural waist is that you won’t be able to wear it with jeans/pants.  I don’t wear jeans/pants enough so it didn’t really matter to me.

When worn on the first hole (furthest away from end of belt), it measures 22 1/4″. I usually wear this on my high waist with sheath dresses. When worn on my natural waist (middle hole – 3rd hole), it measures 23 1/2″.

The width of the belt is approximately 1″. I think this is the perfect size  belt for wearing with skirts and dresses.  It includes two belt loops for each color of the belt. Make sure not to lose one when switching from black to brown.

The double Gancini buckle is a lighter gold color compared to my H&M cheapie belt.  I think it’s a nicer, subtle shade of gold and not as bright as most gold toned buckles.

I’m unsure what kind of leather it is.  The leather is very soft and seems much more delicate than their other belts (made out of saffiano leather). This concerns me a bit especially in the areas where the holes are punched. You have to be very careful when taking the belt on and off so you don’t damage the leather.

The color of the leather on both sides was exactly what I was looking for.  The cognac brown is very rich and similar to the H&M belt.  Overall, I would definitely recommend this belt.  It’s expensive but you get two belts in one and the colors/design are classic.  It’s much cheaper than finding a used Hermes belt and about 1/3 the price of a new Hermes belt.  I prefer the discreet logo and simplicity of this belt plus the quality is amazing. I can see myself wearing and keeping this for years to come.  Hope you found this review helpful.

  1. I agree, although I love the Hermès belt, the Ferragamo one is definitley not as loud and more wallet-friendly. I like how this belt is reversible making it more versatile. I love how you styled it with the Striped Dress & Magenta Blazer. It’s subtle with a classy touch to it. Currently, I don’t own a Ferragamo belt, but I do have my eye out for it! 🙂

  2. Great review Annie! Sorry to hear your H&M one died on you but this is so much better and I love that it’s reversible. I don’t own one myself but I got one as a present for my fiance a few years ago and I think it was saffiano leather. It’s such a sharp look with a suit. 🙂 Glad they gave you the box an dust bag.
