Wool Hat Review-2
I’ve found that shopping for hats is not easy! First, do you like the structured look of a fedora or do you prefer floppy brim?  I like both but it’s all personal preference.  I figured it would be helpful to do a review so you can see what some hats look like on a real person.

A couple things to look for are:

– inner circumference of the hat
– brim width
To measure what size hat will fit you, take a flexible tape measure and wrap around the circumference of your head slightly above your ears. Make sure to keep the tape measure flat and straight. It’s best to do this in front of a mirror or have someone help you. As a reference, mine measures approximately 21″.
The smallest circumference I could find was 22″ (I’m sure there are smaller ones) which fits a slightly loose on my head but comfortable. You don’t want the hat stuck to your head nor do you want it too loose.
The brim width is so important because it can either make or break the look of the hat for me. For instance, I prefer wider brims instead of the smaller fedora’s. I like at least a 2″ or wider brim.
If you are looking for a wool hat for Fall and Winter, here are some great options for you:

Wool Hat Review-4
Nordstrom Felt Hat in charcoal (4 colors and made in Italy)
Dress: Banana Republic – size XXSP (buy here)
Shoes: Tory Burch {old} – size 5
Nordstrom Beige hat
Nordstrom Felt Hat in taupe (same style as charcoal)

I really like both colors but not sure if I’m loving the tassels? I love that it’s made in Italy and the quality is really nice.  The size of this hat fits me the best out of all the hats I tried on.
Wool Felt Trilby Hat - Camel
Wool Felt Trilby Hat (avail in 5 colors and made in Italy)
Sweater: J.Crew {old} – size XXS (similar here)
Denim: AG Jeans – size 24 (buy here or here)
Shoes: Coach – size 5 (similar here and here)

I thought the brim on this one would look funny on me but I actually like it! I love the bow detail and the structured look of the hat.  It fits the shape of my face and seems like it would stay in place on windy days.

Floppy Wool Felt Fedora

This is the only one I didn’t care for.  It arrived a bit crushed so the shape is a bit funny. It could be super cute if the circumference wasn’t so big for me.  If you have a larger head, this could work.  I do like the brim width and color but it’s definitely going back. Another great option I found is this David & Young Felt Fedora.
Which one is your favorite?

  1. So many pretty outfits in this hat post! I still love that Anthro dress on you and I love the new BR sweater dress. I got so excited after seeing the dress on you that I think I added multiples to my cart (aka wishlist) and had to edit it. As for which hats to keep, I love the tan Tribly hat the best followed by the grey one you paired with the BR colorblock dress.

  2. Annie, you are a beautiful lady with beautiful style. I think you look cute sporting such stylish hats. You styled each hat nicely in this post. Which one I like here? Let’s be honest- floppy hats can be both functional and cute. So really… I’m torn between the first hat and the second one. The details for the second hat make it a bit more stylish. Really, I like both the first and second hats; but I give the slight edge to the second hat.

  4. Hats are great to throw on when you’re having a bad hair day– one question I have is, how do you prevent getting “hat hair”? I like the first hat the best– you should keep it in the taupe color once it arrives. Let us know which one you end up keeping!
